Happy I found this lil restaurant. My wife and I saw it while driving by and decided to stop. I looked up the pictures and it looked authentic. We got the Tinga sope, ceviche tostada and El pastor tacos. I'm picky about El pastor tacos but these tacos were amazing! Juicy and flavorful. The sope is huge and I could not finish it. The tostada was delicious as well. I really loved that they serve menudo and pozole every day, usually restaurants only serve these options on the weekend. Can't wait to go back and try those as well as breakfast. ????????????????
Absolutely incredible!! I love their food and their service. They got our food out in no time, but I would have waited an hour for good food like that. It has now become my favorite place to eat when visiting in the city.

Bad customer service, from the start when ordering we were told it could not be ceparate bills, we were 5. The waitress said it states that on the menu, not true on the menu it said they will charge a 15% tip if they are serving 5 or more. A 15% tip like if they really earn it. They service the food first the tortillas latter when your food is kind of cold. At the end when we got the check it did not show amount per plate just the name and the total bill, when we asked for itemized bill with amounts, the waitress give a menu, so I guess you do that part of their job yourself, but then again they charge you a 15% tip. Overall that is not how you should treat your customers, but what do they care if other people don't mind that kind of treatment, that treatment will not change.

This is a bad place, good food but service is horrible. They hide prices and charge you what ever amount they want. Stay away from this place!

We had huevos rancheros and agua fresca. The food and drinks were okay. Not the best I've had but not the worst. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because the customer service lacked significantly. Once we ordered and got our food the waitress never came back to check on us.

I'm a fourth generation AZ Native.. Take it from me this place is authentic! It's not about the looks or 5 star service.. this food is considered good in Mexico and with local natives.. that says it all

Hungry for menudo? If so, please stop by and try a bowl here. Some of the best guts in Phoenix. The red is excellent. Perfecto seasoning, served with the usual extras you're familiar with. Nice ambiance. Nothing fancy here, just delightful, well seasoned food. ????????????

If your looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place hands down.
Wow the food is soooooo good.
I had the Chili Relleno plate with rice and beans a flour tortilla. The flavor of the Chile Relleno was awesome.
I will be back.
For those who had anything bad to say about the food. It's got to be someone whom thinks Taco Bell is Mexican food.

El Jacal has phenomenal food that tastes of the rich southern cuisine that southern Mexico offers its locals. The Chile relleno, enchiladas and chilaquiles are all amazing and often difficult to choose between. The red sauce is deep Chile colorado and the green sauce is a tangy tomatillo sauce just like back home in Mexico. The tortillas are handmade and you notice the difference. The side rice and beans could play as a main dish as they are just incredibly good! The owners work the kitchen so you know the passion and dedication is there. I super recommend this spot! It’s definitely a hidden gem!
