A new place for a nice Friday night steak dinner with a nice view of the city from way down South.
One of my favorite restaurants, awesome view of the city, rustic western atmosphere, steaks and sides are fantastic, you can go wrong here.

This old school rustic steakhouse is tucked away against South Mountain. It has a lot of steak varieties and all are plainly served but perfectly cooked to order. Dinner comes with a small salad, beans, and a couple pieces of wheat bread.
The place was pretty packed so service got a little slow but the staff was very nice. Picnic tables with bench seating and checkered tablecloths add to the ambience in this old stone building.
There was a decent country singer on Friday night. I assume they have live music on the weekends.
Doesn’t take reservations unless it’s a party of 8 or more. Has quite a bit of parking.

The building is a cool old building but the inside was very stark, cold, and a little uninviting. The tables have cool oil lamps on them but only have benches. Our server was nice but inattentive. The steak was cooked to order but was not a good quality steak. The beans were good but the mashed potatoes were poor. So, it you are looking for a mediocre meal with a nice view, you've found your place.

This is our favorite activity in Arizona - a horse ride to a steak restaurant and then a horse ride home. Beautiful views. Great food. 5 stars.

Great dinner tonight. Had the 14 oz New York strip and it was excellent I'd show you a picture but well I ate it too fast. Western look and beautiful views of The Valley.
Friendly and courteous service, perfectly grilled steak. The best part was the steak tasted like steak should, not to heavily spiced or extra salty.. It really let the the flavor of the beef comes through. Ranch beans and a garden salad with ranch complement the meal.
If you've never been here you have to come if nothing else just to see the beautiful views but the food's pretty good too. It's halfway up South Mountain on 19th Avenue. If you plan in advance you can even ride a horse up from the stables below.
If you have guests in from out of town, this is a real Arizona experience. Share and enjoy it much better than the more commercialized joints that instead truthfully aren't worth the money.

Went with the family to this steakhouse that I hadn't been to in years and years and family wanted to try it. The location is beautiful on the north side of South Mountain. You have skyline views and can really see stars. If you blink, you'll miss the sign that points you to the restaurant while on 19th Ave. If you're at Dobbins, you haven't gone far enough.
Aside from the lovely views, the restaurant is only open for dinner, so 5pm forward. The menu is very limited. That can be both good and bad.
The steaks smelled amazing and weren't terrible but they definitely were not phenomenal. You pay a very hefty price for what you get. A steak, small salad and a small bowl of beans that had to be split between us all.Which that was fine cuz they were so hard, definitely not cooked all the way. Ohh, they did have amazing HOT bread. Yum. If you want a side like baked potatoes etc, that is a la carte, which we already knew. Normally, I'd be fine to pay that much for a delicious steak, but this wasn't worth the cost. Even a children's hamburger comes with no side and the meat was swimming in the bun, for $12? Nah.
Our server was Stephanie, she was attentive at first and then literally disappeared off the floor for over 20minutes, with no word. We had to get other servers to assist us. We were there celebrating a birthday and nothing was done or even offered, which was disappointing as it was a high milestone birthday.
Overall, if you want to see a very old, rustic cool looking Arizona home that has been changed into a restaurant/bar, then by all means go. If you're looking for affordable and delicious, spend your money elsewhere and just take a drive that way to see the stars.

Very good, fun night out, expensive but worth it for a steakhouse meal, they give you complimentary bread with your meal, staff was extraordinary too, only suggestion for improvement is the kids steak was only the size of a fist while the full rack of ribs was like your fingertips to elbow

I have been coming here with my family since I was a child, they love it.
This is a true cowboy steakhouse...no frills, just meat.
Every side is extra so don't forget to order them.
The deliciousness of the meat is hit or miss, I'd say. At times it's perfect and others it's fatty or over cooked.
Indoor and outdoor seating, lighting is always an issue when the sunsets. Lanterns and ambient lighting illuminates the plates.
Give it a shot if you want a rustic experience
