COD Seafood House & Raw Bar Reviews

Overall Rating

All the food—on point. Sea bass, tender to the fork, falls apart in your mouth. Grilled octopus, cooked to perfect texture (and great beans). But this is my own personal opinion, i find it hard to give 5 stars for fine Asian dining. For Asian food, I either want super experimental, completely out-of-this-world dining experience, or something very homey, warm and unassuming. That weird grey area in the middle where it’s neither too novel nor traditional doesn’t attract me, but I’m sure plenty would disagree.

Sushi was just ok, nothing special. The Hamachi with jalapeno was probably the best thing we ordered.

Friendly staffs and great atmosphere, Uni truffle pasta was extremely rich and creamy (good for sharing), Hokkaido scallop carpaccio was delicious with just right amount of Yuzu kosho-
Only thing was that they offer too many items on the menu, it might takes awhile to pick what you want, hard to tell what are their signature dishes

Food: 7.9/10
Members in my party did not enjoy the stir fry as there were substantially more veggies than shrimp. I ordered 3 different types of fried shrimp and all 3 were solid. My friend's sushi roll was enjoyable as far as I can tell and a member of my party also really enjoyed her chicken Lo mein. Soda was expensive and nonrefillable.
Ambience: 9/10
Really well furnished with an ADA accessible upper deck and dining level. Tasteful decorations elevated the Bar area and candles on each table made the dining experience feel special.
Service: 7/10
Typical for the area and price point. Nothing bad but nothing to set itself apart from the rest. Waited ~15 minutes for my table after making a reservation.
Value for money: 5/10
Left this restaurant feeling hungry after spending nearly 40 dollars. If you're driving, which many of you probably will, there is a Valet that only accepts cash for $16 dollars. Cake cutting fee of 3 dollars per guest.

Would I come again?
Maybe. Just maybe...

Visited Saturday night with Mom. We sat at the bar and a lovely lady made me a cocktail with house-made Lavender syrup, Vodka, gingerale, and lime juice. It was delicious and perfectly crafted. For appetizers, we both had the New England clam chowder, delicious. I had the lobster sandwich (not to be confused with the sushi lobster roll - I know East coast folks we call this a lobster roll but the place serves sushi, so whaddya want?) - it was exactly what I wanted, I was so happy. The bread was soft and fresh. The lobster was plentiful with a side of hot drawn butter and a lemon wedge. Perfection. My mom had some pan fried gyoza, she wasn't that hungry, but they were excellent as well. You can have them steamed or pan-fried. You can order online and pickup. Even if you reserve a table online, the place is small so there may be a wait. We did not have to wait long, but we ended up staying pleasantly happy seated at the bar and dined there. I look forward to returning and trying some more well-crafted cocktails and other entrees!

I had a yummy dinner here with a friend. It’s quaint inside with nice music and decor. A good ambiance and more on the relaxing side. I loved the salmon carpaccio with yuzu! It melted in my mouth. I wouldn’t recommend the hamachi ceviche as I didn’t enjoy the taste of sriracha. it did not go well together in my opinion and I love spice. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was solid. Overall I would come back.

COD was our favorite restaurant while in LA! I would say it’s Asian-Fusion. We ordered several items which were so delicious, fresh and plentiful! And the waitress was very nice, funny and she did everything. She served the food, mixed the drinks and did everything.

Miso soup was a smart choice. Shrimp wontons were a great mix of crunchy and chewy. Raw scallops in the sweet sauce were like a delicious candy. Uni pasta had great texture. I list a 4 because they didn’t have the drink I wanted and something about the blue crab roll wasn’t thrilling.

COD is one of my favorite Asian-inspired seafood places.

The Lavender Mule is smooth and refreshing I love it with tequila instead of vodka which you can substitute with no additional charge.

The Spicy Tuna Rice has the perfect amount of heat & crunchiness - it’s soooooo good and with only 4 you might end up fighting over them.

The Crispy Walnut Shrimp is actually some of my favorite in LA I love how freshly they prepare it - it never disappoints me & I order it every time I come.

The Chicken Garlic Noodles aren’t overpowered with garlic & the Parmesan adds a nice saltiness to the noodles - I love them.

The Shrimp Fried Rice was delicious as well as the Crispy Garlic Brussels sprouts for a side vegetable.

The customer service was excellent and I loved the scenery/atmosphere sitting on the upper level - can’t wait to come back excellent late date night spot!
