CARNEVALE - get it. One of my favorite pizza joints - must try!
Large venue - great for large groups or parties. PLENTY of parking, which is rare in LA.
Mainly beer and wine served.
Take home dough balls! Super amazing Canoli! Would definitely recommend calling in advance as there can be a fairly long wait. Absolutely fantastic food. Huge communal dining area with an open kitchen layout.... Give it a try!

The dough was fresh and amazing! Usually I concentrate on toppings and cheese but I focused on the dough at this pizza restaurant. My friend recommanded this place and no regrets trying this pizzaria.
The staff was a bit distracted and unattentive when I was ordering but I had no problem getting the food. My husband had great experience with them so I guess they were busy at the time was ordering. Easy to park, great crowds, fast serving.

They make one of the best Margherita pizza! Have tried their pizza in Austin too. Same taste and crust. We ordered the Margherita classic VPN. They have ample seating space and parking.

Loved and frequented this location for years and it’s always been spectacular. However the pizza given to me today was another level. All of their pizzas have looked good but I wanted to especially shout out whoever made this one today. Thank you!

Pizza is tasty and authentic. This is one of the first (if not the actual first) place I got pizza after moving to LA, introduced by my boyfriend, and never had I had a truly more authentic pizza. I've referred friends and family here time and time again. We ordered the Desano (classic and meaty) Diavola (spicy deliciousness) and the Original Carnevale (not pictured) - this one is light but so fluffy and tasty. Big dining area with family style benches, and a gated parking lot for safety. Definitely an LA favorite.

IF YOU LIKE WOOD OVEN PIZZA.... THEN WALK IN WITH CONFIDENCE.
This Review is based solely on my experience and personal opinion.
I went to the DESANO pizzeria with my friends on a Thursday night, 11/18/21 and it was my first time.
FOOD: We ordered one large DIAVOLA and one large VERDURA and in the end 6 CANNOLI.
PIZZA DIAVOLA= very good pizza indeed! the right amount of topping, NOT greasy, NOT fatty, NOT oily, NOT soggy and the right amount of cheese. The wood Oven is what does the magic.... the crust is crunchy and toasty, the bottom is thin and well done. The fresh, simple, but very good ingredients are the secret of its amazingly balanced taste, that surprises even the most picky New York style pizza lover. The Sausage and the Peppers were tasty and tender, and the Bufala cheese would just melt in your mouth .......Wow!
PIZZA VERDURA= few ingredients, as you can see in my photos, but an harmonious combination. cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, spinach and mushrooms..... couldn't be more simple.

CANNOLI= they were good and flavorful but could have been better. They did not have the chocolate coating inside that prevents the Cannoli from becoming soggy and mushy. very good cannoli regardless. The Ricotta filling was good but too sweet and the Chocolate chips ones had WAY TOO MUCH chocolate chips...Nice Cannoli shell I have to say. . I enjoyed the overall look and flavor.
DRINKS= they have a small vertical refrigerator with a selection of Italian style beverages, alcoholic and not. I did really enjoy picking my drink among all the flavors and types available. Sparkling water, Italian sodas and much more. They have beer, Italian wine and Italian Spumante. Amazing!
Each of us picked a different drink and we enjoyed it!
STUFF: Friendly, helpful, they greeted us at the entrance and when we left, and they said THANK YOU quite a few times. The young girl and the boy at the entrance guide you thru the Menu to help you make the right choice and the rest of the staff are nice and smiling. Soooo, very good customer experience.
CLEANLINESS: Tables, floor, benches.... all clean. the buss boy kept cleaning in between servings and the other one was brushing the floor in the meantime. Pleasantly surprised to see such attention to details. the cleanliness of a restaurant is a key when it comes to a great customer experience.
RESTROOMS: restrooms were nice and clean. Hand soap. paper towel, toilet paper and running water was available.
PLACE: the restaurant has one massive room, industrial style and one small room. in the Large room you have many tables and benches to host a large number of customers (at least before COVID) and here you have the four wood ovens and the lab where they make the pizza dough.
The place is minimally furnished but the look is still nice and neat. The small room, whit a pub-like look, is very minimalistic and sort of "naked" but I liked it too.
This is a great place to have parties, reunions and gatherings with family and/or friends while enjoying a very good pizza. Both rooms have a TV set.
PRICE: Within the average for a wood oven pizza.
CONCLUSIONS: if you like thin crust pizza wood oven baked then you have to visit this place. recommended.

When you arrive at DeSano for the first time, it is hard to know what to expect. The building apparently has no windows, doesn’t have much signage and isn’t surrounded by lively eateries. Even when you walk in, you may be fooled by the small lobby area, where you’ll see an overhead menu and place your order at a counter.
But after you order, the DeSano experience really starts. You’ll walk through a doorway on your right into a large, lively, and welcoming seating area perfect for dining and drinking with large groups of friends and family. The room is full of long beerhall-style tables, and the cooking crew is right there in the room tossing pizzas into the ovens. You should also brace yourself for some seriously great pizza. We got one that had ricotta-stuffed crust; the sausage on it was so good. We also got the Diablo, which brought the perfect level of spice. The meats and their crust are DeSano’s strengths (especially that crust though…wow.) I ordered a pizza big enough to yield some leftovers for lunch tomorrow and I can’t wait for my second meal of this pizza!

COVID REVIEW:
Visited this place in August 2021 when masks are required again and I felt safe in this place since it was spacious overall. Layout was basically: Cashier area then dining area at the back and the bakery at the end of the room. Bathroom was on the right side of the (when dancing the) cashier area.
They provide cups for cold water but water bottles are always an option if you don’t like tap water.
Now to the pizza. Ever since I got to New York, I have always been on the lookout in LA for something that could match or beat the pizza of New York. I think I’ve found the place. It’s DeSano. Literally the food was freshly served and served at the perfect temperature (not too hot, but hot enough to be able to bite it without burning your tongue). Every bite was delightful and it made me miss New York pizza. I couldn’t stop smiling because I know I will be back to this place.
I ordered Lasagna, Caprese, Meatball side, and the Star Pizza. I forgot what it’s called because I asked for their best seller and the attendant suggested that star pizza.
Food was a little bit above aver pricing but it was a good kind of splurge compared to flying to New York just to quench that hunger.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. I ordered the Lasagna pizza, which has meatballs and ricotta cheese. They have four wood-burning ovens from Italy, and you can tell that their ingredients are from there as well. The pizzas come out in less than five minutes. I could taste that the cheese was fresh, and it was delicious. I am not a fan of how they put the meatballs on the pizza. It was more like shredded meatballs instead of slices. I love thin slices of meatballs better. Also, the meatballs need more flavor. Overall, the pizza was great!
I would recommend going here when you are in Los Angeles and are looking for a quality Neapolitan pizza.
