One of the better Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles in my opinion. I moved here from San Diego, where I grew up, a few years ago so it’s been really hard to find Mexican food that’s as good up here but this is one of the few restaurants that I enjoy coming to. It’s out of the way for me over in East LA in a residential neighborhood but it’s worth a stop especially when I am coming from east into town. The burritos still don’t taste like home to me so I don’t order those but the plates are really delicious, the portion sizes are really generous, and the food quality is there. They also have a parking lot with about 10 spaces attached next door and street parking is easier here in East LA compared to other parts of town.
I would recommend any kind of Mexican food and definitely plan to be back again.
Can never go wrong choosing to eat here!!!Arrived in LA for a work trip, met up with a coworker at the airport and first destination from the airport was El Tepeyac Cafe. The service and food was outstanding, as it was on my last visit in 2021. I got the mini original but my coworker went larger. What an awesome authentic place to eat!

If you’re anything like me and haven’t been here in a while is time to come back. It had been years since I’ve been here but the food is as delicious as when I used to come in the 90s. The Hollenbeck burrito (mini) still amazing topped with not just salsa but chunks of pork, or your choice of meat” the dinner plates are also great. The Chile Relleno platter is delicious served with rice beans smothered in cheese and choice of corn or flour tortillas. All this under $25 for two, a true bargain in today’s economy.

Still as delicious as it was when I was growing up in the area. While visiting this past weekend I had to stop and have a mini hollenbeck burrito. It was so good. Definitely a must when visiting LA.

Mother’s Day ritual. Huevos Rancheros and The Original Hollenbeck are always on the check. Nothing short of delicious. Capacity is low. Friendly vibe, pretty sure same people are at the counter every time I go. First time I came here was 1993, the only thing that changes is price. Not pictured, chips and salsa.

Anytime I’m in East Los Angeles I eat here. They never disappoint! I ordered the Mini Hollenbeck and still couldn’t eat the whole thing! It was so delicious. Our server, Ariel was the best! She had a room full to serve plus the counter and she had a smile on her face the whole time. Thank you Ariel!

I got the taco and enchilada combination dinner. Both items with shredded beef. Fantastic flavor and lots of meat! Incredible deals for $11.50!

This place is a must of you're in the east LA area. The hollenbeck or Manuel special come Verde burrito is what they're known for. But why cronchy tacos are ????
