Judging on food taste and whether or not if there is a positive quality to price ratio this location, and every Katsuya I have been to, is worth it. They have a lot of options and are priced the same as many other sushi restaurants aside from the obvious excepted markup due to the location. With that being said because it’s attached to LA Live and next to the Convention Arena and Crypto the crowd dining around you is determined by what’s going on that night. If there’s a concert there will be more formally dressed diners as well as more adults. Tonight because of the NFL experience there were a lot of families.
I started off the meal with the Yellowtail Jalapeño and even though it was expensive at $24 it was really tasty. For my entrée I chose the premium Moriawase, which is a chef’s selection of nigiri plus one sushi roll. Everything was delicious and again slightly expensive but I expected that when I made the reservation.
Overall it was great quality seafood and I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of sushi especially if you are at or near LA Live or South Park.
Expensive, but very good. I got the Katsu bites and the Chef's Sushi special .

Terrible experience, went to have dinner with my husband. He ordered a steak that was all of 6 in by 4in and maybe 1/3 of in thick,, or should I say thin, on a green leaf, with a few shredded green onions. I ordered the tofu salad. He steak came after 25 min I waited another 15 to 25min. So we didn't eat dinner at the same time. Waiter said its because the don't make food and salad in the same place. ???? Really??? Ridiculous!!! Over priced and poor service . Food????save your money. Find another place to eat. It only got a star because u have to put a star to submit. Or it would have gotten none.

I just visited the bar area for an adult drink and bartender was real cool. This spot has a great vibe even on a non busy night.
I’ve been to other Katsuya’s for food and it was delicious, I can’t wait to go back for food next time. On prime times with events at the center across the street, I imagine this spot as a great place. I’ll update my review once I eat here and get a full experience.

Amazing experience. I was afraid to go because busy restaurants trigger my anxiety yet the hostess was so accommodating and chose the perfect table for us.
Thank her and our waiter Fernando we had an incredible catch up with my friends after 10 years of not seeing them. Plus the food was amazing and the waiter know the menu so well that he was able to help us with our food selections effortlessly.

We made a reservation in advance and good thing we did! They were quite busy but the hosts and servers were very kind and accommodating.
We ordered quite a bit, and we enjoyed every bit of it. I even ordered additional nigiri sushi orders! The food was phenomenal, along with the vibe, cleanliness of the restaurant + bathroom and service. I also love that they had a sushi bar in the middle, which gives it an authentic feel for me. It was modern, but still had some traditional twists that I appreciated as a former Japan resident. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
What we ordered:
-Aged New York Strip (which we shared)
-Nigiri sushi orders
-Premium sushi moriwase
-Tuna tataki (not thick cut like authentic tataki. More like a carpaccio but still delicious)
-Rolls (I forget which my friends ordered haha)

Atmosphere is really nice, we ate on the patio to see the folks ice skating. The food was good, I felt there wasn't a lot of options on the rolls, but the food is fresh and the drinks are fun. I was not a fan of the hand rolls. Our server was dope and helped with food and drink suggestions

At Katsuya LIVE, I ordered the Premium Sushi Moriawase. This is a chef’s combination of premium nigiri and rolls, at $55. I was served a nice selection of 10 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces of toro maki.
It does seem like most items on the menu are highly priced, given the location of the restaurant. However, I was satisfied with my serving of sushi. The maki rolls are mostly filler, but are also tasty. The quality of the fish in the nigiri was quite tasty, with every piece being satisfactory. The ikura salmon roe was perhaps my favorite item of the dish.
I also tried out the brussel sprouts and chicken karage. The chicken was nothing to write home about, but the brussel sprouts were perhaps the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. And I am not that big a fan of brussel sprouts, but the way they were baked and salted gave them a crispy almost chip like texture, which was very unique and delicious.
The restaurant also has a unique choice of decoration. There are various robots painted gold used as decoration around the restaurant, including robot dinosaurs and various gundam figures.
