Have you ever found yourself yearning for an unbelievably outstanding meal? Is your life missing a sense of happiness from the lack of sensation in your taste buds? Do you eat food? If you answered yes to any of these questions, keep reading. If you answered no, still, keep reading.
I'm nearing the end of the menu. Haven't found a meal I did not like. It doesn't matter if I order for one, or order catered, it's always phenomenal. I truly love this place. It is an absolute blessing to have this jem in our vicinity. My favorites have to be the smothered chicken. Even the rice it comes with is cooked to perfection, with a flavor that will have you asking for seconds. The chicken is perfect and the gravy is simply the best. I suggest Cajun popcorn or popcorn chicken to start. All the sides are terrific but I tend to default to the anyways delicious bbq beans and their spectacular biscuits. You also must order hush puppies. If your full, order them to go. You'll thank me. You're welcome. See you soon, and have a fantastic day.
Always enjoyed the food of this place. Everything is excellent. Picture is smothered pork chops and our dirty rice, but it comes with rice so I should have gotten collard greens or something. Corn muffins not the greatest. Must have buttermilk pie. I always save room. ????✌️

I recently came here with a friend of mine and we were both trying it for the first time. He got the chicken sandwich and I got a four piece fried chicken (white meat) and catfish with hush puppies. My friend thought the chicken sandwich was the best he had ever tried and miles better than any fast food places that offered it. All the chicken we got was perfectly juicy and fried to perfection, all I can say is excellent. I did joy the catfish and the cornmeal crusted it had was a little hard but still great. The mac & cheese was very good and the fries were amazing. The cornbread was extremely good and went amazing with the honey they offered. The ladies were very nice and helpful in picking out options on the menu. Overall the food was amazing and definitely worth a try if you’re considering it.

I really enjoyed having lunch here. I felt like I was eating at my aunt's house. The extra spicy fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and the seasoning was spot on with the heat to spice flavor ratio. I had the chicken with slaw, cornbread, and sweet tea. Friendly welcoming service and a relaxed atmosphere, like I said felt like I was at my aunt's kitchen.

Although the food was okay, we were very disappointed. We ordered the white meat only chicken, and paid an extra $7 for that option; however, half of the 12 pieces were legs and thighs. The corn bread was outstanding and the crayfish okay.

No better fried catfish anywhere and it is perfectly complimented with their collard greens and Mac n cheese. Tasty hush puppies I just prefer mine spicy not sweet. Don't miss the buttermilk and sweet potato pie.. you can thank me later!

Food was great! And the service was even better. Came in during a rush and the ladies got us squared away with our take out order quickly. Oh yeah, and the fried chicken was so juicy! Will be back again very soon

Excellent little spot for lunch or dinner. The staff ladies are extremely friendly and are happy to explain the menu to you. The food portions are huge; meats are perfectly cooked (ribs come right off the bone) and the sides are excellent (I highly recommend the mac n’ cheese and the grilled sour dough).

Very authentic New Orleans style Cajun kitchen. you won't be disappointed. Smoothed Fried chicken is one of the favorites. It's not Morton's it's a small place the server's care about the food and experience. take the time to enjoy the experience and don't fret if it takes a little bit longer its worth it

It hurts to say, but this was the most REGRETTABLE food experiences I've had. My family is against letting food go to waste- if no one wants it, at least let our dog or cats have it - but we ended up throwing out all the sides to the trash. Sometimes food is "okay, could've been better" or just not your cup of tea, but this was downright horrendous and a waste of nearly $85. Just go to Popeye's instead. I'm not sure who I'm more disappointed with: those who prepared the food or everyone that's been giving this place four and five star reviews.
We got fried chicken, shrimp jambalaya, chicken creole, chicken sandwiches, and sides (potato salad, toast, yams, greens, and clam chowder). I enjoy trying new cuisines here in the Valley, but I will not ever come back here - even if the food was on the house - and here's why.
First of all, we waited inside nearly 40 minutes for our food. While you look around at the Mardi Gras beads on the chairs and decorations on the shelves, t's hard to not notice the stained floors. The linoleum has probably been like that for a long time, despite how many times they mop, but it certainly makes you wonder what condition the kitchen is in. So what right I thought. A lot of buildings in the valley haven't been renovated for decades. Plus, its expensive and restaurants have overhead and staff to pay. At the end of the day we came for the food right?
Now, the food itself was horrible. If I could describe it with a meme, it'd be the middle aged white guy saying " You're not that guy pal. Trust me, you're not that guy." My mom described the fried chicken as lacking seasoning, smelling funky, and tasting like it was fried in oil that had not been changed in a long time. My sister, who had a fried chicken sandwich, also said it tasted like old oil instead of the spicy Creole seasoning it is described as. My brother and I had the Chicken creole and shrimp jambalaya, respectively. It was reminiscent of middle school forcing myself to eat the cafeteria food cause I forgot my lunch at home.
Worst of all were the sides (seen in the pictures above). The potato salad? Tasted like mayonnaise flavored whipped cream. The clam chowder? Gerber with specks of clam. The yams? Mush in a light watery cinnamon and sugar syrup. The greens? Salty, bitter, with the stems still on. Even the toast was bad: it tasted like the crumbs at the bottom of the toaster that haven't been tossed out in a week. We were gonna get mac n cheese instead of yams, but our server said it was not great today, so if this was the best they had to offer....yikes.
For a soul food restaurant, the food here has no soul. At best, its mediocre. At worst, just don't come here in the first place. The food did not taste fresh and lacked flavor. For as long as we waited, you would expect the line to be out the door but it wasn't. Seriously, waste of time and money.
