I have had Tlayuda LA on my saved list for a few years now. While I was in the area looking for some lunch, I found Tlayuda again and knew I had to go.
They have a nice intimate dining area with lots of art all around. Their menu offers up a variety of Oaxacan style dishes such as the Tlayuda (a kind of pizza), tacos, specialty dishes and a variety of vegan dishes!
I’ve had my eye on the Tlayuda for ages, so I knew I had to try the Tlayuda Supreme. It came on a thin crispy tortilla (it reminded me of a lavash) covered with black bean puree, veggies, Oaxacan cheese, and topped with beef, pork and chorizo! It was deliciously flavored and the meat toppings were very tasty.
Super cool spot, glad that I was able to try such an unique dish. I heard their mole is also really good, so I hope to try it next time. If you haven’t had a Tlayuda before, now’s you’re chance to try!
Fresh, tasty, and unique Mexican food to dine or take away!

I live near this great Oaxacan place and I’ve had a chance to talk to the owners.
First, what you care about most, the food is incredible! Delicious and prepared from scratch with a reverence for the cuisine.
But I also want to point out Tlayuda L.A. is female owned, Latina owned. And the owner has told me her mission is to make traditional dishes that taste delicious but are healthier. There are many great gluten-free and vegan options here.
I hope this review makes you want to eat here because the owners are wonderful people who deserve all the success! Stop by to support them. And,
YES! The food is amazing!

I love chilaquiles in a tomatillo sauce and it really comes together for me when they’re offered with chicken. Tlayuda hit all the marks with their version. A hearty, satisfying dish that also includes eggs. Although the chilaquiles do not come with rice and beans, they are available as a side. However, this dish is very filling as is. Love a restaurant that identifies as women owned. I feel the love that goes into the food and joint. Check them out!

Tremendous vegan options. Try the mole, hibiscus flower tacos and the tylauda. Ample seating

Oaxaca black mole chicken they do have, it’s sweeter than the brown moles. The ladies do a good job but it’s overwhelming the orders they have plan for a wait. My order was to go as is most orders so I took a walk after placing the order to the bakery on the corner. This is a Oaxaca community here as well.

Hands down this is the best Oaxacan dishes in California. The tlayuda is beyond delicious. It's full of flavors n so tasty. I've been coming here for years n it just gets better n better. If you're into spicy stuff they have this habanero sauce that's bound to give u a run for your money.
The burrito is another favorite. Pretty much everything here is great. Everything is fresh.

First time here, highly recommend!
Clean, small, nice, and plenty of seating.
I’ve tried many versions of mole, but this is my new favorite!
Handmade tortillas, homemade sauces, spicy salsa if you want it, and friendly staff.

After hearing great things about Tlayuda L.A. from our foodie friends, we decided to take a trip from the valley. The food is so worth the drive! The employees were friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The food all tasted fresh and delicious. The four salsas were unique and there is something for every spice level. We ordered:
Tlayuda supreme: The meats were all flavorful and cooked perfectly. The cheese was fresh and the veggies were nice and crunchy. Paired with the salsas, this was a really satisfying dish to eat. It is a nice, big portion. I will definitely order this again.
Enchiladas mixtas: We loved that we could try all three types of enchiladas in one plate. That's not usually offered at other restaurants and is a big plus. It was a tie, but the green and red enchiladas were our favorite. The chicken inside was tender and flavorful. The sauces had nice spice to them and the whole plate tasted authentic. The mole was full flavored and sweet. We enjoyed the rice which complimented the enchiladas well.
Flan: This is the BEST flan I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot of flan in my life. I would drive here all the time for this flan. The texture, flavor, and caramel in the middle are all perfection. Do your mouth a favor and try the flan. You can thank me later :)
Cheesecake: The cheesecake was fantastic. The caramel complimented the flavor of the crust. It was a close second to the flan.
Aguas frescas: All the aguas frescas are really good, but the jamaica is my absolute favorite. It is not too sweet and full of flavor. Super refreshing!
Brewchata: The brewchata has a nice flavor of coffee with the cinnamon flavor of horchata. They pair well and we loved the presentation of the drink.
We are happy to support a women owned and operated business and will definitely be back again! I will be dreaming of the tlayudas and flan until then. ju
