Sit at the bar, ask for Wendy, and pour a shot of sake for both you and her. As the owner, Wendy has made me feel at home here in LA when I moved from the East Coast. Tsuri to me is family.
On to the food. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in my life, chef CO is wonderful and brilliant. They also have new fish consistent so even if you tried something one week, come back and see what is new on the menu.
The place is understated and I like that. Probably one of my favorite blocks on Melrose before Melrose turns into “Melrose”.

Great service and amazing sushi! Kevin's rolls are awesome. Highly recommend the salmon and the white tuna they both melt in your mouth.

This restaurant is good for trying some new things. The plates are made with detail and there is a range of sushi rolls and other Japanese meals. I liked the restaurant distribution because it has an open kitchen and you can see the chefs cooking live. They are very active and dynamic and it create a really cool atmosphere. The waiter was also very kind and fast.
In terms of price, it matches with the quality.

Unexpectedly good.
Usually I don't expect too much from US sushi joints.
At Tsuri the server did not even know what umeshu is or most of the sushi names in Japanese even though they were right there in the menu.
But then she brought the order and it was the best ootoro I had in the States to date. Other stuff we tried was pretty good too (their fish is superb which plays a huge role in it). Definitely on par with decent places in Japan (more expensive on most of the stuff though, but taking into account airfare savings...)
Definitely recommend to stop by if you are nearby.

We had a wonderful experience here! Food was fresh and delicious. The waitress was helpful and attentive and the atmosphere was great. The ‘Gyoza’ was fantastic, the sushi was fresh and they have some interesting options. Oh and the mushroom soup was top notch ????????????????
