The food was phenomenal. Very short wait times. Great view, great food and even better service. I had the Seafood Ciopino and a snicker doddle ice cream brownie. The seafood dish was delicious to say the least. It had all the classic seafood items, as well as 2 pieces of toasted bread. The dessert wasn’t too sweet or too big of a portion it was enough for 2 but i had my own. Definitely coming back next time I’m in town.
Very fresh and savory food. There were many options available in the menu. We tried the ciopino, fish tacos, oysters (those from Baja are the best) and the crab cakes. Views from the window area were nice during sunset. There are also some tables to eat outside with view of the bay. I recommend this place!

The Fish Market came recommended to us by our casino host in Vegas so we had to try it out! It was very popular but for us was just okay. Our expectations were higher than what our experience produced!
We were sat at a little tiny table in the corner of the bar, which was fine, we still had a view! Service was super slow and very sporadic, although he thanked us for our patience every time, it never improved. The hostess made sure to tell us to limit our visit to 90 minutes or less but failed to mention you may not get to finish your meal due to slow service!
The garlic bread was the hit of the night! A garlic lovers dream!! The New England Chowder is nice and thick and loaded with potatoes and clams and the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail is plump and juicy. The cocktail sauce is bad, really bad, but the shrimp were so nice just plain! The swordfish was nice but the rice was like rice-a-roni and the cole slaw was bland. The Snicker Doodle dessert is way way too sweet. Never had a Snicker Doodle with white chocolate chips in it!
Good experience, not great though, and I suppose we were looking for great. So many restaurants with on the water seating it has to be great for us to go back.

Simply amazing! I tried several appetizers in addition to a main meal. All ingredients used were definitely fresh and tasted very good. I would highly recommend to try the sourdough and the clam chowder soup. I really hope to visit the fish market in San Diego or another city again as I really enjoyed the food.

Although seating arrangements have changed significantly since COVID-19 the quality of the food and service is STILL A-1!!!! Since there was bar seating available I opted to enjoy a couple of Mai Tais while waiting for an outside table to enjoy the sunset (yes, it took a while to be seated but always worth it). Keep in mind, I was a walk up so people with reservations are priority but that is fine with me as I generally dine alone. But, I highly recommend making a reservation if you prefer immediate seating, etc.
During this visit I had the wild caught Alaskan halibut with fries and coleslaw. WOW! This entree provided an explosion of flavor! Perfect portions, perfect seasoning, perfect cooking! The fresh made tartare complimented everything on my plate.
Although they do not serve dessert wines the hazelnut chocolate mousse was HEAVENLY!
Fourteen years in San Diego and the Fish Market ranks in my Top 5.

Visiting San Diego from the UK and recommended to come here, so made a reservation.
Very traditionally-styled restaurant in a great location. Bar seating is very limited if you’re waiting for your table, otherwise you’re seated on a couch nearby. Our table was outside the main restaurant but still in an enclosed area overlooking the sea.
Personally I think there is a fine line between ‘traditional’ and ‘old fashioned’. For example, I anticipated that the fish mains would be served on their own with the side dishes in separate bowls to share, rather than everything being served on one plate. For me, the portion size is then a little ‘over facing’, taking something away from the food itself. Just personal taste, I guess.
Nevertheless, the food was good and tasty, and the service was really friendly and attentive. A very nice but not great experience.

This is my third visit to the fish market. The crab cakes were delicious. The fish tacos were good as well. My friend had the curry fish and she was a little disappointed. Maybe not her thing so try it if you like fish curry. The four star rating is only because of the wait time (1hr) and the fact our server was probably taking care of too many tables. It was just not as good of service as expected. It was not horrible just not five star. The view is incredible so that is a total bonus!

What's not to like, from the sightseeing and their quick service, you can also enjoy great seafood. The crabcakes were specially delicious, and the white and red clam chowder were super tasty. Definitely it is a place to visit and have a great lunch or dinner.

Great food and cozy place. It has a great view of the ocean. The clam Chowder and the Fried Calamari are a must. The Fish and chips are crispy and very well cooked. I would definitely come back again.

I have been going to the Fish Market for years and it is still my favorite seafood restaurant anywhere. I had the Sea Bass today and it was amazing. Their sourdough rolls are excellent and the clam chowder us the best.
