While I have always enjoyed Dumpling Monster every time I had it delivered, eating there takes it to an entirely new level.
The restaurant itself is rather hidden, tucked under an apartment building just off Santa Monica. I had trouble finding it the first time I went but it’s directly east of the Smart & Final and south of the doggy daycare.
The service was impressive, especially for a place that seems like it was originally made just for delivery. The food is amazing, everything comes out as it’s ready and the portions are larger than you might think. So be warned, I have left a few times feeling overly full because I just had to have a few more bites.
The Beef roll is by far my favorite thing on the menu. If you only look at the delivery menu you would never know it exists. It’s like a hidden gem you only can find out about when there. Aside from that all the dumplings are great but I could eat my weight in the scallion pancakes without even batting an eye.
I really can’t say enough good things about this place, they really are just that good.
Great dumplings, ok everything else, but we came for soup dumplings and we're quite happy with them

We love Dumpling Monster. Sadly, I no longer live close by, so today's visit is a real treat

Go here if you want your taste buds and yummy to be happy. This place is solid. Given, it’s not Din Tai Fung, you’re also not waiting outside as you miss your reservation over your one friend who’s “stuck in traffic”.
Here, you’ll be able to chat with the staff and stuff your face with some fresh-made goodness. I honestly don’t remember what I had since we all split as much as we could stuff our faces with; but I remember how it made me feel - full and satisfied.

I enjoyed my boiled chick and chive dumplings even though they were barely warm by the time they come out to me. I was so hungry I forgave that 'mishap'. They were delicious almost cold too (but I do love them hot even more????!. Great dipping sauces and mini water carafe, good service. I'll still eat here because I do love their food. I would say 5 stars had it not been for almost cold food that should have been hot.

I love Asian food.
I love how creative, daring and spicy the meals have the potential to be, and specially I'm really into dumplings and gyoza. There's just something about the combination of dough with a filling of your choice and the spices in the protein cooked within the doughy part.
This place I wanted to try because it specializes in dumplings, so naturally you'd expect their attention, skill and efforts to reflect just that. Kinda like if you visit a cardiologist you wouldn't expect them to look at your foot.
I got the Spicy Pork Wontons which I enjoyed. It was good. Not great. Could've been better. I'll tell you why. It tasted fresh, the pork was well seasoned and the spicy sauce accompanied with spring onions was a nice touch. I think if the consistency of the gravy was a bit thicker and perhaps a slight addition of garlic would've really put it over the top with the spring onions. But, I would get it again. It was nice.
I also tried their Pan Fried Chicken Dumpling which I didn't like and didn't finish. The chicken was processed chicken meat and the dumpling tasted frozen. Going back to my previous point.....because it is a specialty dumpling shop.....anything other than fresh - in house made dumplings is just not a good idea. I wouldn't get that dish again.
The service I can't really say much about. It was like a fast food type service at the counter.
THIS IS AN EDIT ON MY LAST REVIEW OF THIS PLACE.
I went back and decided to try another item on their menu which was the Chow Mein with Shrimp and in addition also ordered their Spicy Pork Wontons which I loved the first time around also. I decided to add two more stars and here's why:
Consistency: The spicy wontons were great...again. The taste, freshness and time to prepare were exactly as the first time.
The Chow Mein with Shrimp I really enjoyed and was pleasantly surprised because on my very first order I was not happy with the quality of the dumplings and wasn't sure if the Chow Mein would follow suit or not and luckily it didn't. It was wonderfully seasoned, very fresh and the proportions of the shrimp to cabbage, onions and broccoli was just right.
When I arrived home it was still steaming hot! which tells you it was prepared right off the grill and packaged just in time with no lapse in counter-sitting.

It was ok in flavor but way way over priced. My friend got food poisoning from his order. It also isn’t that authentic nor was service good. I ordered the truffle soup dumpling but tasted no truffle nor was it great .... not bad just kinda blah and just not worth it. Overall I would say not worth it go to a real Chinese place.

First time here, been on the list for a while but usually never in this area.
Any of the soup dumplings will probably have you thinking you should have ordered more.
Staff was nice and recommended items as well.
Priced well too, not inflated because of the location.

4/09/21 ☆ ☆ ☆ to go order
The food tastes good but it’s a bit overpriced. I ordered steamed chicken, another one with chicken and shrimp (shu mai) and a chow mein with chicken. Paid $31,42
The chow mein was a decent size, but it lacked chicken and there were NO red bell peppers AT ALL ???????? (even though it says on the menu). I loved shu mai ????????, it was delish (but they serve just 4 small ones). Steamed chicken dumplings were alright but again the portion is too small. So I headed back and ordered 2 more shu mai (another $13,23). I’m feeling full finally but paying $50 ($44,65 + $5 tip) for that amount of food is kinda steep.
The staff is friendly and polite, the place looked clean. Still I can’t recommend and doubt that will ever come back.

I was hoping for a little more choices. The food was okay. A bit pricey. Service was a bit slow too considering we were the only ones here ordering dumplings.
