The food was delicious as usual. It’s our go-to spot when we want to take a guest for great food. Don’t know what’s in their house special sauce but it’s so addictive. But why only 4 stars? The prices seems to go higher and higher. They do indicate if it’s MP (market price) on the laminated menu. Would be helpful if they printed out on paper or posted on a chalkboard what the MP is for the day. Definitely ask so you are not surprised when the bill comes.
I hesitate to post this review because I selfishly don't want this place to get any more crowded. The food is delicious and the portions are massive. When we sat down, after a slight wait they brought out complimentary fish tostadas. The salsa was good but super spicy so be careful. The oysters especiales we started with were decent but the star of the show was the whole fried red snapper in Nayarit sauce. The plate has a massive fish, cooked perfectly, boatload of fries, rice, and salad all sitting above liquid gold a.k.a. Nayarit. I thought I was in heaven eating the bites toward the bottom of the plate that had been soaking in Nayarit. My wife and father-in-law claimed their food was good too but I was so full and happy from mine that I didn't even look at theirs. Can't wait to go again and try one of their enormous sharable platters.

Absolutely delicious!! It was definitely worth it!
It's expensive but worth it!!! Hard to find good parking area. We had to park around to corner then walk to the restaurant.
We got the Alegrias Special Delicious and such a big platter of food!!

One of the best seafood restaurants within the Wicker Park neighborhood. Their large shareable seafood dinner (4-6) is absolutely fulfilling. Everything was cooked to perfection, nothing was too salty or undercooked. I definitely was not disappointed about this restaurant. The service here was good and attentive. This place does get busy, but once you get seated and squared away, the food here is worth it.

Alegrias has some of the most unique seafood dishes I've seen. The Piña Rellena was absolutely AMAZING. The amount and quality of food for the cost is more than worth it. Plus, the service was fast and very friendly.

Nice BYOB spot with huge portions. Prices are reasonable as well.

A decent small business Mexican style seafood. Not over priced for portions serve. It is a byob and also offers on-site alcohol mixed drinks

Awesome experience with a Seafood-Mexican centric menu where it leans mostly toward the seafood side. Everything was perfectly cooked and they even started us with a little lobster cracker as a mini appetizer. We got the 2-3 person meal eith 2 people and it was a ton of food where we had plenty of leftovers. If you get the big shared platter, expect to spend at least $70 per person.

Always honest opinions. Was a bit disappointed. Love seafood but this was like an explosion on a plate. You can’t tell the difference in anything. The shrimp, lobster and crab all tastes exactly the same because of the sauce they use. Nothing had prices on the menu. The muscles I ordered were really dry. Like they cooked and sat in a window drying up. Overall gave it 4 stars because I love seafood but probably won’t be back. Paid $150 for my plate and the shrimp weren’t even clean. Good but not worth the cost based on the quality of the seafood.
