I came right at opening and secured a seat at the counter.
I toured around the menu with the shiitake and hotate skewers, agedashi tofu, hamachi kama, and hotate and botan ebi nigiri.
The agedashi tofu was the sleeper hit of the meal. I was delighted that the botan Ebi nigiri came with fried shrimp heads ; they’re so delicious.
There’s a lot more to explore on their menu and it’s a great spot for sushi. I definitely recommend it.
nice service. the food is amazing! Sashimi is very fresh, dishes are delicate, one of the best dining experience!

Food was good as my previous visits but giving two stars mostly for the service. We ordered Omakase and other things, food started piling up since half of the tasting dishes came out, we once had three of them on the table unfinished. To me, the importance of tasting menu is having one dish at a time to focus so you are not overwhelmed. The waiter/restaurant was definitely determined to rush people out, not only the dishes, but also came multiple times to ask desert while we still had two unfinished plates. We were there about an hour and a half, from sitting down to leaving, with desert, to me, that’s not much for this type of restaurants. There was also a piece of plastic in one of the dishes, we mentioned without much complaining, nothing happened

Delicious, quite frankly best sushi I've ever tried. My partner is in a wheelchair and they made all the accommodations for her. Excellent staff and I see why they earned their Michelin star

Wow! What an experience! The food here was so delicious! They had so many flavors that married very well together. The Wagyu Rice was phenomenally decadent! The green monster roll is a favorite for sure. I could literally eat that for the rest of my life and not be disappointed! I forgot to get a picture of the desserts we tried the lava cake, cheesecake and matcha crème brûlée. They were all delicious. But they took a lot of creative license with calling the cheesecake a cheesecake it was more of a biscuit with berries and cream. It was very delicious but not a cheesecake. This place is a beautiful gem that you must experience in your lifetime.

Had their special presentation of small plates and it was really cool. I would do it again and enjoyed the experience. It was weird though, when it came to deserts we asked for a bit more time and our waiter looked at his wrist watch... not sure if they have "timed tables" or what but that was a bit of weird way to end an otherwise pleasurable time

True to its Michellin star rating. I came in with high expectations and came out completely convinced. I recommend their Omasake menu, a must try. And for its price, IMO, well worth it - unique combinations of flavors throughout the 10 course meal with each one building layers of pleasant surprises. It ended with a pure and simple cleanser, sashimi. If you force me to choose only 1 dish, it's the mind-blowing oyster & scallop shots (see picture).

A girlfriend and I ordered a bottle of sake and the Omakase. Everything was delicious - each bite was unique and flavorful. The courses came out VERY quick - often before we were finished with the previous course. In the end, it was too much food for us. We couldn’t finish the final few dishes. But, I would absolutely order it again! Docking one star because while our server was wonderful and described every course, the 90min table limit was enforced strictly. We were politely asked to pay our check at 90min and had not finished our final two courses or sake. I understand it is a small restaurant but 2 hours would be a better time limit for those purchasing the pricey omakase menu. I felt rushed and it ended on a slightly sour note. A simple 5-10 more minutes would have been all we needed.

This is my favorite sushi experience I’ve ever had. We did omakase here for our anniversary and look back on it fondly often because we were blown away by the food and service. We left completely stuffed. Each dish was beautiful, incredibly fresh and so complex and unique. I can’t say enough good things except best sushi in Chicago.

Woooow. This was my first Omasake experience and it was amazing! I highly recommend doing the Omasake experience for first timers. You get to taste the variety of dishes. If I were to come back. I will definitely order the sushi rolls and the Sashimi. It was amazing! I wish I can come back the next day but they are always book out! Reserve your table at least a week ahead! It's worth every penny!

We went there to have the Omakase. It was good. Very large portion!! After 10 courses, I was stuffed!
Have I had better Omakase? Yes. This is not very exotic, but good food. Especially with the portion. It is a great value.
Loved the soy sauce. I am going to buy it to use at home.

What a delightful experience! We made a reservation at KaiZan after getting so many recommendations from friends, and it did not disappoint us. For our first time at Kaizan, we decided to try out the Omakase and we were so happy with our choice. The presentation was beautiful, the flavor was impressive, and the items in omakase are matching well with each other. Unlike traditional omakase which focuses on nigiris heavily, Kaizan’s omakase is innovative and consists many cute small dishes. Great value! We already planned to go back again to try out all the other a la carte items on the menu.

Delicious omakase! I dined in with two friends on a Tuesday night. We made a reservation 3-4 days in advance since it's a smaller, more intimate restaurant, having a reservation is important. Every course was amazing and perfectly timed. I'm not even a fan of wasabi but the way it was used in the dishes was delightful. The fish and oysters were incredible. Two of us had traveled from out of town and tried 10+ restaurants while in the city, yet we found this to be the most wonderful meal yet! We finished with a smoked anchovy ice cream and it was mind blowing. It sounds unappealing, I know, but it was perfect - from presentation to taste. One of the best meals of my life!

Not a traditional omakase experience - very fusion like. It was also a lot of content which was nice, but a lot of the courses had very unique and atypical flavors. I’d say it’s an acquired taste.
