Food was perfect. The ambience was IDGAF. The owner/server was a wonderful, cranky French man. I loved the experience as much as the food and would recommend this to anyone who wants a colorful, confrontational, delicious meal.
This is not your normal Gold Coast restaurant and I can see why some people were put off by it because it's not your typical slick service, taking in the scene kind of American restaurant. Prepare to spend some time as the host/waiter/server/busser does it all for the eight or so tables. With a dry wit and a quick "I'll be back" if you hesitate in placing your order, his demeanor will rub the prickly and privileged the wrong way. Me, I loved it.
We had escargot and a red and gold beet salad to start and entrees of steak frites and sautéed whitefish. We ran out of time for dessert because we wanted to catch the Nick Cave show at the MCA before it closed but I hear that the mousse au chocolat is to die for!
The wine list is limited but good and prices are WAY below typical Gold Coast prices. I definitely recommend Le Petit Paris.

I love this restaurant! It feels like Paris in Chicago. Totally authentic! The owner is sweet, kind, and funny. He does 99% of all the serving for the whole restaurant. The food is beyond fantastic. I love the escargot and chocolate mousse but really you can’t go wrong with whatever you order. And… the wine is delicious and reasonably priced. We have been there twice and will definitely go back!

We came here for our anniversary. It was quaint, quiet, and quite the French dining experience. We enjoyed every moment! Our server was friendly and well versed in the menu. Expect an authentic French experience when you come - it’s like being transported across the Atlantic! Every bite of the food was better than the last and we only wanted more. C’est magnifique!

Alain's place is one of the best kept secrets of Chicago. He's amazing! Greeting, seating, cooking, serving, waiting... He does it all, and leaves nothing to be desired, his service is perfect. The food was exquisitely cooked and beautifully presented. We had delectable appetizers: escargots, smoked salmon & crab cakes, followed promptly by butter lettuce, candied walnut and goat cheese salad, French onion soup, and a roasted beet salad. We ordered the filet mignon, boef bourginon, pork cutlets and the foie de veau. Each member of our party was extremely happy with the entree they ordered. This little French "hide-out" in Chicago is NOT one to be missed.

Charming, intimate cozy spot with authentic French food. I felt like I was in a brasserie in Paris. Service was very professional and warm. If you treat the staff with respect you will get the same in return.

Absolutely one of the best kept secrets in Chicago! And you can't beat the price for the quality of food you're getting! I highly recommend the escargot and the Duck. Also, if lamb is on the menu, very good! And don't forget French onion soup, the best I've ever had.

Let's talk about authenticity. This place it's a hidden gem in the big Chicago city. The atmosphere and the energy of this place is incredible. One of the most delicious escargot i ever tasted. This is the place where you can feel the closest to Paris.

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. The cuisine is to die for, prices are unbelievable. The owner/chef is wonderful! I have been coming here for years.
In response to a few reviews I read:
Service may be a little slow as the owner/chef has been unable to hire waitstaff, this doesn’t bother me, I love talking to the chef.
There was a comment about the chef being rude. LOL, I remember the first time I ate there and can see how someone may have that reaction. However, I loved it! I was reminded of being an American tourist in Paris and going to a French restaurant. My advice is enjoy the experience, this is an authentic French restaurant experience! As a regular I now miss that little bit of French hospitality LOL!

A true gem! Authentic French restaurant with outstanding food. Small quaint cozy just like you would expect a French Restaurant and Alan the owner is magnificent and a gracious host. Hard to get in since there are only 8 tables but worth it if you get the chance. We have been in Chicago for five days in the last two months and ate at Le Petit Paris three of those nights. A+++

This was one of the best french restaurant experiences I have had.
Allen, the chef and host is a delight, very charming and excellent host.
One of the best onion soups I have had in America.
The atmosphere is great too, with french music playing and feels very much french.
