I drink A LOT of iced tea and the server was a rock star! I'm a big fan of the restaurant requiring a 20% gratuity for its service staff, and the fact that they prominently promote this throughout the restaurant.
I had too difficult a time choosing which one item to order, so I ordered 3: The smoked trout scramble, custard stuffed brioche French toast, and the Lula ‘99 turkey sandwich. Each item was amazing and unique. And wow, the Lula '99 sandwich was delicious, and the star for me was the scramble.
My daughter ordered the Pasta Yia Yia. I wasn't a fan; I was hoping for bolder flavors and it being sweeter than it was.
Overall, it was a phenomenal experience; I just wish I didn't live so far away :-(!
First time here and I know I will become a regular customer!
The steak and eggs was on a well side but still amazing but the toast with fresh tomatoes and balsamic vinegar was just mouth watering experience! After sharing one we could not resist and ordered it again to enjoy the experience one more time !!!! Simply breathtaking ❤️❤️❤️
Kudos for being a dog friendly establishment and out furbaby got her own bowl of ice water served to the table !
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!

Really enjoyed brunch while visiting my sister in law and her husband. It's their favorite go-to for a quick bite, or something more formal, and a short walk from their place.
We had pastries to start that were delicious and the sweet corn muffin with pepper jelly and butter were a great intro. The French baked feta was so creamy and the oils soaked up with the bread was delish.
The Royale breakfast sandwich was very rich and it completely filled me to the brim. I'm glad there's a walk back to work some of this off. I highly recommend this place!

Most of the dishes I got were pretty good, but the caramel French toast was burnt. I had to cut off all the burnt sides. Our waiter saw this and didn’t even often to replace the dish. Probably because they wanted more tip. Eating burnt food tastes terrible and it causes cancer.

Baked feta was super smooth and delicious. The bread was the perfect texture.
The fish was the bomb. Super flavorful.
Pork chop was good.
Rice pudding just ok, but I’m not a big rice pudding person.

Superb dinner at Lula Cafe. Called morning of and got a last minute 5pm reservation on the patio. Once we arrived, the restaurant quickly filled - a testament to their popularity. The menu had both classics and seasonal items listed along with extensive cocktails and wines to choose from. We had a bottle of orange wine, oysters, roasted peach polenta, roasted dorade, and spaghetti. The food was outstanding and contained extremely fresh seasonal ingredients and flavors. Service and overall atmosphere was great as well. 10/10 recommend especially if looking for a unique spot in Chicago.

Walked in for Sunday brunch and it was such a great spot! There were only ~2 brunch mains that were gluten free but they have a smaller menu in general, so wasn’t bothered by it. Got the special Carolina gold rice with a fried egg, which was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Server was knowledgeable about menu/allergies. A 20% gratuity was already included and was reasonably priced. Would definitely go again!

Transported to another time and even another space. The restaurant vibe is conducive to long meaningful conversations with good friends. The prices here are not bad and the value of what you get is exceptional. Even simple dishes and ingredients get elevated from the flavor combinations and thoughtful preparation. The kitchen is super clean and set up in a very functional manner. You can see the cooks working together as you pass the open door and smell the aroma of sauces bubbling and vegetables roasting. Lighting has been done in a manner than attends to detail. Creativity in the menu and the development of each dish is evident. As a first time diner at Lula, I’ll make sure to be back again!

I had a great experience here for Sunday brunch to celebrate my mom’s birthday this weekend. The space is super warm & welcoming, food is delicious, and the service was above and beyond. Our server overheard it was my mom’s birthday and brought over a dessert with a candle, making sure it was vegan because they knew I was vegan and wanted us to all enjoy. Just very thoughtful service. I got the tofu scramble with ginger miso sauce and I loved it, it was so flavorful and delicious and the veggies were perfectly cooked. I love that most of their menu can be made vegan. It’s definitely worth the wait to come here on the weekends and I’ll be back to try their lunch/dinner menu.

What a cozy spot, with delicious food from start to finish. Would absolutely come here again.
We were 3 people and split 2 apps, 3 pastas, and 2 desserts.
Started with the sun chokes and fried feta - both delicious. Then a few pasta dishes: favorite was the bucatini (brown butter + cinnamon was absolutely unique and wonderful).
Carrot Cake was nice and Fennel Cheesecake was unique, great texture, just a heads up that it’s intentionally not too sweet.
Lively ambiance and friendly staff.
Make sure to make reservations in advance!
