Do not “judge” The Cinderblock-Exterior-it’s what they serve INSIDE-that count’s!
The food is pure DONGBEI-Style Chinese Cuisine.
IMHO-THE BEST
“LAMB-on-Bone-with-Cumin” sold in Chicago.
Also try the Scallion Pancake stuffed with smoked Pork and a dab of Hoisin Sauce appetizer!
Tell Jack-The-Owner…. Randall told you to come.
Gracious-Smart-Owner-
who along with his
Chef/Business Partner-
really care about their business and the clients they serve.

Northern City = Bridgeport’s best Chinese Restaurant !

They changed the fried shrimp for the worse. I took the shrimp out of the breading so you can see how much smaller the shrimp are.
They also taste different. I used to enjoy taking these apart and aharing them with my cat but now they're not worth buying.
Aside from that this is my go to in town for Chinese.
The rice here tastes like it's steamed in bamboo. It's really wonderful. Even after it's refrigerated it's still moist and delicious even when it's cold, kind of like sticky rice. Hmm, now they I've written this I'm wondering if they blend regular rice with sticky rice. I'm going to have to try to make it that way.
I always ask for an extra quart of rice. If you do this make sure to ask for 2 quarts of rice. Otherwise they'll only give you 1 with your order. At least they didn't charge me for extra rice the two times I didn't get it.
I always order the same things, beef fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, which is very spicy as it has jalapeno slices in it. The jalapeno tastes fresh and not like the slices you'd get in nachos. I also get the seafood combo. The seafood is so tender. All their meats feel tender.
Simply the best.
As far as dishes, the only mark they miss is on their walnut mayo shrimp. It's not that great. If you're looking for that I'd suggest going down the street to Crown Grand Triple, next to the McDonald's. Their version of Walnut mayo shrimp is the bomb.
Last thing I'll say is that I've tried a lot of dishes here from pork stomach to intestines and kidney. I'm pretty open as to what I'll try but I have to say I was disappointed for the most part. I think it's mostly cause the dishes weren't saucy enough but maybe it's just not my thing.
But I assure you once you find something you love you'll always come back.

Walked in to ask about my pick-up food, the waiter didn’t know anything about the pick-up procedure and had an attitude. Haven’t tried the food yet, but will never come back again

Northern city never disappoints. We’ve eaten in and taken out many times since moving here and always try something new. This is because everything is so high quality and delicious! Recommend getting out of your comfort zone and sample some of the Sichuan dishes that are less common at other restaurants. You won’t be disappointed!

A really authentic Northeastern Chinese food. Very delicious with a decent price. Highly recommend if you would like to have some authentic Chinese food. The dishes in my attached photos are highly recommended!

Chicago recently has had plenty of restaurants that serve authentic Chinese style dumplings. This place definitely does not disappoint try their potstickers or dumplings pan fried you will definitely not regret it. It is located on 31st St. and there is usually street parking available sometimes it may be hard to find just look for the CVS pharmacy and it will be directly across the street. Don’t forget to ask for extra vinegar if you get lots of dumplings

I've been in Chicago for years now, and as an American-born Chinese person, I think this place has the worst Asian food in all of Chicago. You're much better off going to Chi Cafe, Minghin Cuisine, and the like. Never go here - food takes *forever* to arrive and is completely mediocre. Words cannot express the degree to which I hate this place, and this is the first negative review I've ever written.

Love this place! We get food from here all the time and have gotten to prefer them over other nearby Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. I love their spicy garlic fish, dumplings, and general tso's chicken.
