Robinsons No. 1 Ribs Reviews

Overall Rating

Robinson Ribs was at the Taste of Chicago July 2022. They had boneless rib sandwich on the menu so I split this with my friend instead of trying to do ribs and fries b/c we didn't want fries. Well, the sandwich seemed like a thin patty from costco's no rib taste. The McRib would have been better than this. I see it's on their regular menu too. Sad because wanted to enjoy them I see another review said the ribs weren't good so you may want to eat somewhere else instead.

I want to thank both the gentlemen working this evening (9/17/22) for 1 of the finest Brisket sandwiches i've had in a very long time. Kudo's to you both.

Surprisingly good pulled pork for a random place in the train station. The fries leaves much to be desired. Overall if you need something at the train station and don't want McDonald's or a sub it's worth a try.

I ordered the 1/3 Angus Burger meal and it was decent. The burger was fresh. They get 3 Stars though because they gave me like 5 fries, which were also unseasoned. But hey, if you're at Union Station and need something to put on your stomach you can go here. Go for the daily special to save.

Having an 9 hour layover at Union Station we got hungry. Decided to look for someplace "close". Robinson's Ribs came up and the menu was varied and had a little something for everyones taste. I had the rib dinner, a generous peortion of ribs and beans (more coleslaw wiukd have been nice). My grand-daughter had the pulled pork and fries. We were both delighted with our choices and the fair prices. Highly recommend.

3 for now. I didn't get ribs, I got chicken wings. Was expecting bbq wings... they were fried. Disappointed, but the wings were still very good. However... the steak fries were tasteless, the roll was cold and hard, and maybe I'm too Southern, but that was the worst coleslaw I've ever had. Way too much money for my experience. Next time I'll try the ribs and maybe I can adjust my rating.

Great hamburger and fries. The coleslaw didn't taste good. The people were very friendly and the food was freshly cooked while we were waiting. Conveniently located on the second floor at Union Station. I was told by a regular customer that the rib tips are fantastic, but I didn't have an opportunity to try them.

Best damn lunch/dinner/burger in Union Station. I did not expect a train station burger ???? to be that delicious but it was. Fries weren't half bad either. I mean it's not high cuisine or high-end burgers but for some place in a train station hallway it is pretty great. Definitely coming here next time I'm in Union and looking for a bite to eat.

First of this is our first time ordering from here Robinson's No. 1 Ribs. My husband wanted ribs while I order pizza from one of our favorite place. He was excited because the were smoked and not baked ribs ( how he likes them). After getting home with the ribs and the pizza was delivered we sat and started to eat. I took one bite of the ribs and I spit it out. It was salty and dry.. I also order chicken tenders and they were dry. Both felt like they were just reheated and served..

But I will also acknowledge that the staff was supper friendly and went out of the way to comply with my demands.. I will rate them 5 ⭐ for their great service.

The BBQ was delicious! Ordering was a bit challenging with masks, accents, and my general grogginess to work through but I wasn't bothered until they forgot to give me my German chocolate cake . The size of the slice made up for that mistake. ???? Of course, I might be biased. Had a juicy pulled chicken sandwich, coleslaw, and baked beans here after 2 days of Amtrak lounge snacks.

Every time that I pass through Chicago Union Station, I stop by Robinson’s for the catfish sandwich. The catfish is not doughy or soggy as I have experienced at other places. Instead, the batter is a party of well organized and blended spices that add a little crisp to the catfish. The best part is that you do t have to wait until Friday to order the catfish; it is served everyday! Also, the prices are very reasonable, less than $10 for 2 pieces of fish, fries, and coleslaw!

The ribs have a good flavor. However MOST of the rib tips were burnt. The ones that are not burnt taste pretty good. The greens have a sweet flavor. This is the MOST OVERPRICED food for VERY small portions. I paid $13 for this rib tip combo. They need to increase the portion size a little. This is the flattest skimpiest piece of cornbread I ever seen. My portion looked like someone ate out of it already .

Decided to order some ribs on their end of the week deal the other day. For around $12 and 10 minutes, I received a bit of bread straight from the freezer, some soft potato fries, and ribs that were seared from a grill, and drenched in a thin barbecue sauce.

Keep in mind that none of this was seasoned. I'm not surprised at seeing this kind of quality and convenience based off the adjacent vendors, but I have reason to believe they really dipped in food quality over time.

I'm glad I tried it, because now I won't feel tempted to order again.
