Such a great restaurant. The atmosphere on the patio is so nice, you can sit a little above Michigan Ave, and you’re surrounded by the lights of the city. The food was phenomenal. Best dumplings I’ve had!

For a restaurant that is in a hotel like the Peninsula and that comes with a reputation of having the best Chinese food in Chicago this was disappointing. The place itself is very nice, the staff were kind and attentive but the food was very underwhelming. The pork dumplings were decent without blowing me away, my hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour and my beef main course really lacked in flavour and was very greasy. For this type of money you should be getting top quality food - unfortunately this is very far from being the case.

One of the best Chinese restaurants j’ve been to! The food had an amazing subtle taste and was sooo delish! Lots of veggie options!

We’re no strangers to fine dining, and no strangers to great street corner Chinatown restaurants. This was neither. Two stars only because the atmosphere was outstanding.
Server was sweet, and attentive. But this is a restaurant priced as if it had a Michelin star and yet far-from delivers on that promise.
Let’s put it this way…the Chilean Seabass was deep-fried and slathered (no exaggeration) in sauce. It’s not advertised as fried. After you drilled through the 1/2-inch crust it was tasty; what’s left of it.
Just…don’t…

I was so pleased by the dim sum and the ambiance. However, they showed completely booked out on open table for two weeks. They did let us walk in and seated us right away. I was disappointed to see that the restaurant was barely half full… for a placed booked out on open table, that shouldn’t be the case. Regardless, I ordered the beef entry ($54) for 6 blocks of beef. Hard to bite into, not spicy as listed and when my server asked me why I didn’t finish it, his response was to order something else next time. I mean… seriously? Don’t ask me. The least he could have done was take it off the bill. As a tourist, I wouldn’t Recommend this place. I wouldn’t return. The two stars are for the 4 pieces of dim sum I could eat ($16). I whole heartedly believe if you are going to run an expensive restaurant with a view, your appetizers can be okay, drinks can be okay, but your main entry should NEVER leave your customer empty stomach.

Outstanding food that is prepared with intention. We dined with our friends and all four of us loved our dishes. Everything was so flavorful and uniquely prepared. Service was great and the roof top is a beautiful setting for dining.

The restaurant is located inside the Penisula Hotel. First of all, the decor is very beautiful and has a great vibe. This is Chinese fine dining so expect to spend about 100 per person. The food is fantastic, very authentic Chinese food. We had the xiao long bao, the full Peking duck, Dong po rou and the seafood fried rice with abalone sauce. Every dish is cooked to perfection and was delicious.

We chose to dine here for my birthday lunch. They had limited vegetarian options on the menu but everything we tried was delicious. The ambience and decor was lovely and it has a great view of the John Hancock tower as well. I imagine it would be lovely during summer nights to dine here. Staff was attentive and great service. Food is a bit pricy but acceptable for a special occasion meal. I greatly appreciate the dessert that was served on the house for my birthday. The hotel is stunning inside and worth a walk around to see it.

Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was phenomenal. We had the wonton soup, three treasures fried rice, crab sieumai, lobster & chicken dumpling with black truffle, and steamed pork dumplings. The staff was very attentive but not overbearing, and had excellent suggestions.
