Made a commitment to explore more of Chicago this year, starting with restaurants. First up for the year is Steak 48 Chicago. I made a last minute change to my original plans, and boy am I glad I did!!!! Everything about my experience was AMAZING, but I’ll give a play by play breakdown of each component of my visit.
AMBIENCE
Sexy, chic, cool. Upscale bar meets fine dining type of vibe. Perfect for date night or a meal with friends.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
I received the best customer service I’ve received in three months from the moment I stepped through the doors. From the hostesses to the server assistants, everyone was extremely pleasant and attentive. My waitress, Alexandria (goes by Aley) was a sweetheart and made thee best recommendations. She checked in several times to ensure I had everything I needed and the warm towel to wash my hands before dessert was the cherry on top (second to the complimentary cookies she brought over AFTER DESSERT).
DRINKS
I like to enjoy an adult beverage or two when dining out, but I don’t like to taste the alcohol. Aley recommended the Stone Fruit Martini. I was a little worried that it wouldn’t be sweet enough and the liquor would be overpowering. It was the complete opposite; balanced and delicious, but powerful. I could only handle one (with the shaker left at the table, it was almost a double pour). I also had a glass of the Michele Chiarlo Moscato d’Asti. It paired great with dinner.
FOOD
Let me start by saying I tend to judge places based on how good the bread is before I even receive my meal. I know, pretty terrible ????????♀️????. When it was explained that I had the option to get the bread made half with Garlic Parmesan and half with butter and sea salt, I knew they were on to something. One bite and I was sold…I said this meal is going to be everything my soul needs right now, and it didn’t disappoint!!!!! I ordered the Shetland Island Salmon Oscar (braised) with spinach and whipped potatoes. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the portions were enough for me to have seconds (twice). I had the Very Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was a little too sweet for me (more buttercream than cake), but still pretty good!
To say I had one of thee best dining experiences I’ve had in awhile would be an understatement. Then l I received a phone call to inquire how my experience was; that sealed the deal. This is now a new favorite place to dine! The only thing that would have made it better would’ve been live music.
Highly recommend this place if visiting Chicago! The food was absolutely delicious that I'm looking forward to visiting again someday. I had the lamb chops with lobster as well as a side of the corn creme brulee. This was hands down the best lamb chops I've ever had in my life. Ask for Vinny if you decide to dine here, he was definitely a bonus with his exceptional service that he provided.

Steak 48 looks very cool when you walk in. There are decorative layouts off butcher knifes in the entrance way. It looks so dark and sexy. The service was excellent. Our server was amazing! Zsolt was great! I recommend trying this place if you haven't been before. Another thing I want to add about my experience in reference to claims of racism. Now I've heard about racist situations that people have said they experienced and I also have read the reviews online about other people's experiences. I'm a Black woman and I have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times. I never experienced anything that made me feel like I was being discriminated against for my race or anything like that. It hasn't happened to me. For those others who had negative experiences that is most certainly too bad. If it was me I wouldn't come back either. However, from my experiences I would come back. I have always been treated exceptionally well.

Steak 48 is THE BEST restaurant I’ve been to in Chicago. I’ve been to several fine dining establishments in this city, but this venue really set the tone for a true upscale experience. The food, drinks, ambience, and service were all TOP TIER! I was immensely satisfied with my meal. For dinner, I had the Stone Fruit cocktail, Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs, Lake Superior White Fish + Alaskan King Crab, Chef au Gratin Potatoes, and the Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake. I did a happy food dance the entire night. I was thrilled to have leftovers and have a repeat of my evening the following day! I seriously cannot wait to return and try all different things! Definitely a must visit! You have to!

Fabulous service and atmosphere (for dates, families, or work dinners). I’m not a big steak lover but I got the cod and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Also highly recommend the crème brûlée corn!!

Our waiter was Chris. His extensive knowledge of the menu went on for 17 minutes straight and he could easily answer any other question you would have. He was amazing! Food was PERFECT. I have no complaints. I didn't get a pic of the food because we started eating immediately ????

This was my first time visiting Steak 48 and they didn't disappoint. From the time we walked to the door to the time we were seated, we were greeted respectfully and cordially. Our waitress Allie was very nice and knowledgeable which made ordering very easy. We were also greeted at our table from one of the managers Katrina Johnson who asked about our experience. And now to the food I ordered pork chops and my cousin ordered ribeye steak which was absolutely delicious. When I made reservations via Open Table I advised that we will be celebrating a birthday and the restaurant had a greeting card waiting for me. I highly recommend making reservations for Steak 48 and tell them Constance recommended it. Enjoy!!!

Came for my 4yrs with my boyfriend and that was the best steak I've ever tasted, although I wanted my steak more on the medium side and it was more medium rare I could not stop eating it. The flavor was there for sure, I was going to add a butter topping of some sort but I forgot and it didn't need it at all. Staff was very attentive, friendly, and informative when it came to questions on the menu. Desert was delicious. I would recommend to my friends/family, as we traveled from Florida!

John went above and beyond and made our first time here definitely not our last! Felt welcomed from the start and couldn’t have asked for better service! Food is beyond amazing and hands down best steak I’ve had in Chicago! Don’t sleep on the butchers cut (recommended by John) well worth the $!! Made a special occasion one to definitely remember!
