Their almond croissants are the best I’ve had - caramelized, delicate layers, not overly sweet.

I thought this place was gonna be great but it was awful. The eclair was dry, tiny and bone shaped (big on the ends and very thin in the middle) the cream was delicious but the choux was so dry It was disgusting

The macarons were also horrible. They were hard and crunchy. It fell apart like a husk of an egg shell:

Didn’t get to try any of the standard croissants cus all they had left was the rose jam croissant. So who knows how the other stuff measures up. And it was only 10 am on a Wednesday. What kind of bakery doesn’t have some sort of bread or croissant til at least the noon lunch rush? SMH

Overall, the shop is cute and has a French air but the food itself is very lacking and offensive.

My daughter and I shared the raspberry and lemon tarts. The lemon was perfectly tart and topped with a meringue that had a lightly crispy shell. The raspberries were atop a whipped cream-like base. Both were encased in buttery yet light crusts. I'm not a huge pastry fan because they tend to be overly sweet--but Verzenay's sweetness was sophisticatedly balanced.

Love the croissants here and my favorite kouign aman as well as their cake - so moist and not too sweet at all!!

Could not recommend this place enough- Halal dishes so I can actually have breakfast sandwiches without limitations here! Beautiful place that is my favorite in the world, feels right out of a fairytale and the coffee is amazing. As are the pastries-- the lemon tart is out of this world!

I had the breakfast sandwich on brioche, with the chicken sausage. It was delightfully fresh with a lovely savoriness that was complimented with a nice herbal flavor. Wonderful sandwich, and should there have been some citrus on the side such as orange slices, it would've been a perfect meal for anytime. Either way, the food was splendid, the atmosphere was comfortable but intimate, and the staff were very friendly. I will most definitely be coming back!

Verzenay is the best pastry shop in Chicago- it is also the best French pastry in Chicago. If this shop was in New York there would be a line around the block at all hours, but Chicagoans seem to be catching on.

Arshiya Farheen has been producing the pastries for high tea at the Drake hotel for years behind the scenes, and this is her first retail operation. Every detail about her masterful delicacies is so obsessively organic that she found us as local, organic flower growers so she could decorate her sweets with vetted, local organic flowers.

My whole family is obsessed with her coign-amann!
Run, do not walk...

I had an oat lavender latte and rose raspberry croissant. Amazing taste, the croissant was flaky and yummy. Will come back to try more!

Edit: Came back for the breakfast items. Had a savory croissant and a breakfast brioche sandwich. It was super fresh and flavorful. Will recommend this place! We added this to our brunch spots ????????????☕️!

I was excited to stop here once they opened. The exterior reminds me of the macaron shop Laudurée in Paris! The interior is just as nice and the prices were reasonable for Lincoln Park. While the macarons just tasted ok, I really enjoyed the seasonal fruit tart ????. Great service, will be coming back soon!

Ordered a cake for my birthday and it was AMAZING! Bergamot Tea (Earl Gray) with Blackberries. While picking it up we had breakfast including a delicious Quiche with Salad, and Mushroom Tarts. YUM. Since it was my birthday I splurged and also bought things to take home including Cherry Walnut Bread, a Baguette, Cookies, and French Strawberry Jam. All were delicious. I have had their food at the farmers markets in the past and was happy to visit the new store!!
