My girlfriend said she had never tried empanadas before. Checked Google maps and found LALAs. We headed over tonight from about 3 blocks away, and will definitely be returning soon. The food is delicious! The atmosphere is classy. The prices are reasonable! We also found their dipping bread that comes out before the food to be phenomenal. The empanadas were great. Everything was prepared up to par! This restaurant is a hidden gem in Los Angeles. One of the best I’ve been to.
I used the word “unassuming” when I walked in. Then I saw that word in the description on google business. But what does it mean? I think it means simple design considering the location. Laid back, no frills, nothing over the top. This also happens to be how they cook the steak. I highly enjoyed myself. Mushrooms were delicious. The waitress was lovely despite the TED talk she had to listen to after my second beer.

I'm editing this based on a response from the owner! Well, my own ignorance got me here. In the future I know to get some sauce along with my steak! Happy to recommend it.
I wish I could rate this higher, the atmosphere was nice, great service, appetizers were great, sides were tasty, delicious selection overall but oof, the main. We got the steak for sharing dinner, can't recall what it was called, and it was beautifully cooked but completely unseasoned. And it wasn't like it came with a sauce or something! I'd try there again but avoid the beef.

A small but cozy place. Good steaks and good quality wine also. There is a Plato Mixto place under Lala's Special, and it very well feeds 3 adult people. I had the Grilled Mahi Mahi with wild rice, it was very delicious. Enjoy it my dear friends and followers Blessings

My wife is Argentinian and I have visited Argentina 12 or 13 times in the last 11 years and love the food there. The food at Lala's is about as close as you're going to get to Argentine flavors in the U.S.
I've had the chimichurri sandwich (choripan) and a steak and both have been fantastic!
If you cannot travel to Argentina to try the meat there, the next best thing is Lala's!
The owner is also super nice and likely has a hand in ensuring the quality of the food!

I've been here 2x in the past month. I'm not the first to note how much DTLA has changed in the last 30 years. This place isn't near the LA Live area. Closer to Broadway St. and all the old theaters where we would watch karate and Arnold movies and occasionally feel a rat run over our feet. I digressed.
Food here is great. I did find that the "sweet bread" isn't really a taste I could acquire. Women loved the Sangria. Nice place to visit if you can keep an open mind about its location
