A very casual French restaurant. Love their French onion soup! Deserve was okay. Nothing more to say.
One of my favorites in Los Angeles and always the first restaurant I head to when I arrive. It’s a jewel of a spot in the heart of the city with outstanding French food. I love their Dover Sole, Hamburgers and fries and omelets.

Classically French eats in a buzzing atmosphere - either you're inside seated along a wall, or you're outside on the parking lot patio. No matter what, you'll be surrounded by many other diners (so be sure to make reservations) and served by attentive and polite staff.
The food is pricey but fantastic. I've never had such an interestingly plated burger as the Big Mec. The Croque Madame was perfectly prepared, and everything else looked great as well. Hopefully I save space for the French onion soup or pastries next time.
Lots of aperitifs and spritzes are also on hand, and of course French wine. Street parking wasn't too bad and there's also a small lot.
Food came out to $60 per person for 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Quick note, they add an 18% service charge you cannot opt out of. They say it is to help pay fair wages and it is not a tip, and they leave it (perhaps deliberately) a little unclear as to whether you're expected to tip a whole other 18%, just a few percent more, or nothing at all.
Overall we enjoyed our experience!

Their burger is like a French Kiss: you didn't really know decadence until you tried it. The rest of the menu is simple and solid French bistro food, but Le Big Mec remains the star of the show. The setting is basic - a little patio on a parking lot and inside a row of high stools facing the wall. The vibe is great though and the staff is super friendly. Limited but excellent choice of wine, some decent cocktails, and incredible digestifs like this Mezcal from a world where agaves are sentient beings, and this Sfumato that tastes like your grandpa's old leather armchair. Don't miss out on this LA institution (the restaurant, not your grandpa's armchair).

The Big Mec was really good. Interestingly it was like a gourmet version of a Big Mac. The place came highly recommended and I was told to make reservations. We got there when it opened at noon and we were the only customers until about 12:30. It wasn't difficult to find by Google maps, but it was in a surprising location. See the photos.

The escargot was very good but the ham sandwich was bland and the muscles were just ok. The trout looked good when I saw other dinners order it and I wish I had tried that instead

Great service. I sat outside and had a very attentive waitress. The burger is amazing, probably the best I've had in LA so far. The negroni vert is a perfect pair with the burger.

Classic French bistro food. Service was great and really enjoyed our meal. I had the steak frites, my daughter had the croque madame, and started with the escargots which were delicious. My other daughter had the omelet which wss fluffy and beautiful. The desserts were amazing. The meal was so reminiscent of meals I've had in France. Although I'd say this is a bit pricier but still very good.

Even though it's supposed to be a neighborhood bistro the staff's attention to when to bring out the appetizers and larger plates is greatly appreciated.
We would've never been able to eat all of it, but they gave us plenty of time to talk, eat and enjoy our drinks. It was more formal service and it was wonderful.
Always get the Big Mec. Always.

I really wanted to love Petit Trois - a tiny French restaurant that seems to offer some pretty authentic sounding dishes, owned by a famous chef. What's not to love, right?
Unfortunately our experience was quite far from perfect. Don't get me wrong, the food had some strong high notes at times and the staff was friendly and helpful but we did also hit on certain problems with what was on offer which affected the whole experience - mainly due to the inconsistencies with the dishes.
As an appetizer we ordered the escargot which came with a hot, half-baguette; a tasty combination. Once the mains arrived though we were a bit taken aback. My filet was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good though the frites were lukewarm, bordering on cold and definitely on the soft side. The Croque Madame was way too heavy while the pork chop actually was another strong effort. We finished with a fig tart which was also tasty.
Overall, I don't necessarily feel bad for spending the money we spent for the brunch at Petit Trois. I just wish the experience was good enough for me to look forward to another visit - it unfortunately was not.
