I am puertorican and i love my Dominican people but if I want to eat Dominican food I go a Dominicana rest , the other day I when to this place and I order pollo guisado and it was cook Dominican style and i order one Alcapuria and it was not Alcapuria flavor at all, I think if they going to cook Dominican food np just take the puertorican stuff and make Dominican and like I see before I will go back if I want to eat dominican food but please if it is a Puertorican rest cook Puertorican food, just my umilde opinion!!!
I used to LOVE this restaurant because it was authentic Puerto Rican food. You could tell from the minute you walked in. The ambience, the staff and the food! Chef’s kiss!! Now that the restaurant is under new management, the quality has definitely gone down. Only thing Puerto Rican is the decor. I ordered a plate of arroz con gandules, pernil and alcupurrias. The rice was okay but could definitely use more flavor, the pernil was greasy and bland and the alcupurrias could have used more filling. I’m really really disappointed because I used to consider this restaurant a gem! Will absolutely not be coming back. A real shame.

Went in because I work around the area I have been here before. New owner not boricua. Why do Dominicans think they can pass their food for ours. Lady didn't even have accapurrias something this place was known for. Old owner should come back new owner has to close shop. Not one soul in there when this place was always packed.

I give it no stars but then I cant post this. the food was terrible, the food is bland no sofrito flavor, the service was terrible, they forgot my food, when I called them they stated I can go back and pick something out. When I ordered the chicken soup, it was chicken bones and beef together!, no fiedos, no batatas, no carrots. The food was hot to touch but then inside was cold. The first owners was better. Better service, better food, low prices, family oriented and Better Flavor.

The pasteles have good concistency, but needed a bit of salt and sofrito and in reverse the roasted port was too salty. i really was disappointed as i was looking forward to frequent this place for these favorites. Hope they heed these pointers. i would give it another try.

The rice and beans are amazing!! So much flavor. The pork was nice and soft. All this food for 9 dollars. Went back for lunch for the rest of the week. Highly recommended spot. Also try their empanadas!

Not sure what some of the recent low reviews are about. But just went today, the buffet part was plentiful, the food was good and warm, they even had guineos escabeche, which is something that I rarely see in a buffet style boricua place, especially outside the island. The pasteles were fat and meaty and the service was very warm, just like what I would expect from any Hispanic Caribbean country. Great job and every time I go there the new owners have more options available at the pre-made buffet. Keep up the good work.

Never again! I used to love this place till now! Different people, they over charged for a small portion of food! The food is cold, the food is almost not there at all! the vibe isn’t borica! Pork taste so awful! What happened!? I’m very disappointed ☹️ especially when the meal is small! My friends and I were in very shocked ???? after we left we were still hungry! Lol not a great day! If you want a good happy meal, go to Jersey city! ????

Came in on a Saturday at around 11:45 and there were already a few people ordering takeout. To start, we had an alcapurria (fritter) to share. The flavor was good but I wish there was more pork filling inside and that it was a little less oily. I ordered the Cuban, which they said would take 10-15 minutes. My BF had some plate of rice and pork (premade) with plantains. Both are pretty large portions and we were only able to eat half. He said his dish was pretty greasy. I tried it and it wasn't bad but I'm glad I got my Cuban.
My other complaint was that I wish they had other hot sauces besides Texas Pete. We found this place because we were looking for a quick/cheap lunch spot in the area, but I don't think I liked it enough to come back.
