Pulkies dishes do not miss. They're putting in a strong bid for top BBQ joint in NYC.

You won't have a bad time no matter your order, however, a few highlights for me were the bbq turkey (puts most pulled pork dishes to shame), mashed sweet potato, and cinnamon babka bread pudding. Also grab a gallon of the pimento cheese to snack on and thank me later.

We don’t live in NY anymore but we really enjoyed Pulkies when we did. We ordered it to our new home via Goldbelly and it was so delicious and easy!

We recently sent Pulkies to our parents as a birthday gift. My father and his best friend (>75 year old Jewish men) said that the brisket was better than any brisket they’ve ever had. This is the highest of praise you can get. My mother could not stop raving about the cucumber salad and babka bread pudding.

Because they had such a great experience we also sent it to our friends from NY who are living in Florida, they gave us the same great feedback.

Pulkies has become a real crowd pleasing unique go-to gift for us to give friends and family around the country. Thanks for keeping us all so well fed!!

This review is solely for the brisket. I ordered half a pound and paid $28. Dude, not worth it, way overpriced. Brisket was mediocre at best and a bit dry. I love brisket and left disappointed, especially since there are other great spots to eat in the market. I can’t say for anything else on the menu and the staff was nice.

Thank you, Pulkies for a fantastically savory dinner during Hanukkah. I ordered through Goldbelly and had the vegan stuffed cabbages, Kugel, and cucumber salad sent to our home in rural Michigan. It was so tasty and fresh! My family's only complaint was that I didn't order enough! Next time I know to get a meal for 8-10 for my family of 4.

I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile, as I’m always searching for new vegetarian options. Unfortunately I was really disappointed. I ordered the vegan sloppy Joseph and the lack of freshness made me wonder how long ago it had been made. The quality and taste of the food was simply just not good. For $15 I expected a much better meal, and am disappointed that I wasted my money here. The pasta salad was extremely bland and tasteless, and for the amount of “meat”, I definitely would have needed another bun if I had enjoyed it enough to keep eating.

Edit- second time eating here and even better than the first. Officially addicted to the pulled turkey. The sweet potato side with the turkey was heaven.

I don’t often have bbq but was lured by meat and hot sides as I’m on a diet and looking for low carb options. The pulled turkey is yummy and it feels like thanksgiving. Sides are good too. Honestly the serving is big enough to eat it two times so it’s worth the price in my opinion

Two of us arrived 12:10 and they needed another 10 min to prepare before taking our order.
We shared pulled turkey and chopped beef, with sides of coleslaw, mashed sweet potatoes, beans, kale, mac & cheese noodle kugel, carrots & onions. We agreed everything was satisfying, nothing spectacular. I thought the items they did best were the kale and cornbread.
They didn't have all the sides available. I was particularly curious to try the charoset.

Pulkies was really great! I grabbed their meat & three meal with pulled turkey (great idea!), kugel mac & cheese (also great idea!), sweet potato mash, and cucumber salad. It came with a nice hunk of cornbread, and I ended it with their cinnamon babka bread pudding. Sat at the counter with a Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda and chatted with the staff who were very accommodating.

The turkey was a great mix of shreds and chunks, and covered in their sauce that makes you feel like you are at a thanksgiving barbecue. Loved the kugel mac so much that I'm going to try my hand at recreating it at home. Sweet potato mash was delicious with the crunchy rosemary-walnut streusel situation, and the cold cucumber salad was the perfect contrast and compliment to pull you away from the rich flavors for a minute and get you ready to dive right back in. At one point they gave me a sample of some brisket that had just finished in the kitchen. When I say that it literally melted in my mouth, it literally did - and I'm a very harsh judge of bbq living in Texas. The cinnamon babka bread pudding with bourbon toffee sauce was everything you look for in a dessert, and tasted like Cinnabon opened a Jewish bakery. I will say that my favorite item was the cornbread. It was the lightest, honey buttery-est thing I've ever eaten.

Needless to say: the next time I am home again for a visit, I'll be making a stop at the Dekalb Market Hall. Well done Pulkies.

Great concept, weak execution. I was lured by the images of BBQ sliced turkey breast which they were unfortunately out of as well as the brisket. I ordered the “BBQ pulled turkey” with sides that were chosen for me.

Had a quick convo with staff at the very empty Dekalb market and told her it was hard for me to digest dark meat. She didn’t reply but mentioned she added a sample of cheese cake. I liked the cafeteria style metal tray takeout but it leaked and I only carried the bag outside to eat.

Opening it, I understand why it leaked. She didn’t strain the food thru a slotted spoon so everything was drowning in sauce. The turkey was all dark meat which wouldn’t have been bad if it had any bbq type flavor. Either smoked, brined the meat or spice or liquid smoke in sauce. None of that and they were chunks of turkey I had to cut with a plastic knife- pulled meat allows more surface area for sauce to absorb. Beans were bland, cole slaw unremarkable- not sure why it’s chopped- another issue with way they cut up the food so it doesn’t soak up dressing. The meal tasted mostly of vinegar and sugar. And with the all dark meat, my stomach hurt afterwards... so much for healthy-ish BBQ.

$16 for very minimal meal (1/2 serving). I honestly thought there's been a mistake in packaging my beef sandwich order with sides. 1 small bun with too many sauces (which is confusingly marketed as 3 sides). Wont recommend for someone looking for full meal.
