Easily the best soul food in NYC. First time I went there on a Sunday afternoon a few families just came in from church and one group started singing, and it was so beautiful and, well, soulful that it made for a memorable experience I still smile on a decade later. Turned me into a loyal customer and I always go back when I'm in Harlem.
Most important tip: get the Mac and cheese.
The presentation and freshness of the food at Jacobs was AMAZING! So many varieties and the food was always well stocked. My biggest problem was that the food was very bland. I was so dissapointed as I was looking forward to have a tasty meal and I got the complete opposite. I did read reviews prior to eating here that did mention this but ignored it.

Hot and fresh busy with a lot of people but fast service. The food is very good. If you are looking for good comfort food. The navy Lima beans and turkey wings were my favorite. Cornbread and greens were also a hit. My least favorite is the Mac and cheese. Yams were sweet and soft. Potato salad mustard style and sweet as well. The banana pudding is good but it’s not scratch custard made. I was overall satisfied. After I purchased my meal I sat outside at the table and ate on a Friday during lunchtime and still enjoyed myself other than a few flies a couple times it was a good setting.

Wonderful, very tasty, authentic food to take home or to eat there. Live music (weekends) played with great spirits. We went there as visitors-tourists and it was one of our best experiences in NYC.

My family was visiting NYC from Columbia SC. My niece had this restaurant on our itinerary because we love soul food. We were very pleased with the service and food selection. I even purchased a small sweet potato pie at the register that my niece woke me up at11:00PM to ask if she could have. Now she know that is my favorite dessert!???? My brother was taking about the food for days. He actually got some of the cold mushroom salad to go. All 12 of us dined in. This was my family's first visit to Harlem. Thanks Jacob for being there for the people in the NYC communities.

I stumbled on this place and decided to go in for dinner and I’m so glad I did. It’s $7.49/lb for hot or cold food which will take you pretty far. They had lots of options and everything was fresh even though it was a bit later in the night. The staff was friendly and made sure people were using gloves and wearing masks which made me feel more comfortable with a buffet style in COVID.
The food itself was amazing and full of flavor. I got the jerk chicken, ox-tail, corn, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and plantain. Everything was delicious and I look forward to the next time I find myself in the area

Absolutely Outstanding Restaurant, Perfectly clean, mask and sanitation to welcome costumers and public in general.
I was surprised by such variety of delicious plates to eat, and to delight with the greatest unique taste ever.
If you are looking forward to find something economically accessible this one is the best places ever here by New York.
From salads, vegetables to exotic soups and stews.
I personally thank the Chef, and all the Crew because l enjoyed eating here.

I had my food catered for Christmas. I wasn't pleased. I ordered 14 different dishes. My time to pick up was noon. I was very, very late in picking it up. Potatoe salad who put peas and ???? in potatoes ???? salad. Pineapple Glaze Ham gives the customer chunk of ham instead of slice pieces. Stuffing! Who makes stuffing with big chunks of bread ????, peas and carrots, and shredded turkey. I will do a take out from now on. Judge for yourself. "Lovely" ????

Soul food in buffet style with many yummy food.
I had salmon they made excellent, collard greens and asparagus also avocado salad, but my family tried almost everything… my daughter a meat fan she had BBQ rib, pepper steak and beef on the bones.
My son and hubby pick up fired chicken and soft baked chicken with mac and cheese mashed potato and greens too. I seen they had oxtail, turkey, many different salad, fruits, banana pudding for sweets,
for take out or you can seat outside.
I choose outside sitting this place nice and clean, and can’t wait to eat that food .For me best on sunday especially if you don’t wanna cook but everyone in your family wanna eat different combo. Also recommend people who works in the area the price is great for everybody pocket .
This two on the picture was $21 after we took 3 more box and paid all together $50 so each box $10 these days for hot food is a bless.
