Great experience. Awseome food and service. Everything we ordered was really good. The naan, spinach buccatini, potatoes, brocillini, & ribeye (red wine sauce ????) were exceptional. Drinks were pricy for what you get but good overall meal. Top 10 for sure.
Otium is a special place. It’s a bit busy and buzzy for a reason. A lot of thought went into this place from the elegant design to the open kitchen to the thoughful wine list to the fantastic cocktails to the memorable food. Don’t miss the sweet corn agnolotti (when in season). Same for the dover sole with fried capers. Wow. Special thanks to sommeliers Christine and Joey for a great recco on a white french wine from the Jura region. It is pricey but yet, this place should be on your list.

We ordered the Naan, Tomato tart, Spinach Bucatini, Sweet corn Anglioti, Chicken, Pork Chop, smashed potatoes with creme fresh, brocolini and honey and milk for dessert. It was an amazing dining experience. We loved the vibe. Great service and the open kitchen allowed the integrated dining experience. The staff is friendly, service oriented, and knowledgeable about the dishes. We really enjoyed our dining.. we will come back again.

Let me preface by saying that I have come to this restaurant before and loved it! Now that was pre Covid. It seems like post Covid, the taste has changed quite significantly. Sure the presentation of the food is great. However the most important thing about food is the taste of food. My #1 complaint was that the food was UNBELIEVABLY SALTY!!! while this is not shown in the picture, we ordered the salmon tartare — parts of it were delicious and then the wasabi flavor just absolutely overpowered everything. The only dish that was the saving grace was the naan and duck mousse liver. Other than that, the rest of the dishes that we ordered were unbelievably salty. By the end of the nights our taste buds were so numb by the salt. The most annoying part of the night though was that we had asked for our drinks more than three times, and our server still couldn’t get us our drinks on time. Service was very slow! The only reason why I would be writing this review in the first place is because Otium is supposed to be this well known well established restaurant in the heart of DTLA. This restaurant should either lower their prices or make sure to seasons food properly without excessive amounts of salt.

I googled "must eat in Los Angeles" , Otium popped up, since I was around, just took chance to walk in without reservation, was so happy they could get me a table.
Naan with chicken liver mousse was the bright highlight of whole dinner.
The first couple bites of salmon tartare were very sweet, then turned into very wasabi taste. Maybe it's the way it's supposed to be, otherwise even it was busy evening, I would prefer it could be mixed better.
The beef short rib was delicious, but the veggies came with the dish were so salty ( more than triple salt).
The warm chocolate tart is not impressive, but this one only is my own preference.
The cocktail, I ordered their signature one"Otium", it's so bitter with weird herb ???? taste, don't feel any freshness, really not impressive at all.
At this level restaurant, I can only give 3 stars.

Cocktails used to be way better when I first came here in 2019. Not only it’s super overpriced now, all three drinks we ordered taste quite mediocre (mango tango, the otium, and milk punch)????
Great ambience and service, food was really delicious. HOWEVER! The lobster and pasta were ridiculously salty… other than that, flavor wise all the dishes we ordered were impeccable.

The most outreagous experience you do not want to experience! They bring you the plates asking: Did you ordered this...We asked to have another waitress. The sommelier didn't like that I mentioned a wine he didn't know "Quart de Chaume" as I needed a suggestion for my dessert wine... and as my husband is not as wine savy... we got then treated as 2nd class citizens.... they burnt my palette with their croquette de connard, the porc my husband ordered was so salty that both had this terrible taste till the next day... they forgot to charge for our Champagne and despite they had charged us... they came saying they forgot and asked us to pay for it... we called the next day and asked that the manager of the restaurant call us back... nobody called us back... DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. It was our 20th years anniversary. The Duck dish was perfectly cooked but my husband made me try his pork and it ruined my taste buds. We cut our orders and went somewhere else to have a decent experience and enjoy a dessert.

The restaurant is beautiful and is a well oiled machine. The service is amazing and the food is so good. Really creative, decadent dishes. Also they have an incredible wine selection; definitely talk to the Sommelier. We went for the valentine's set tasting menu and it blew us away. I can't wait to come back and try a full menu

They were closed during the pandemic but finally opened. If you’re looking for a restaurant with great interior and great atmosphere, you won’t be disappointed. The menu changes often so don’t rely on the pictures you see on yelp. This place is definitely on the expensive end so if you’re looking for great value, this will not be your choice of restaurant.

Great food with a happening atmosphere and an amazing waiter that helped make the night even better.
It wasn't all rosey unfortunately and there were some misses with the food we ordered hence the 4 rating (Google doesn't do half stars or else I'd rank it 4.5 stars) but overall I would highly recommend it.
The duck breast was on another level, best I've had hands down. Cocktails were good, my wife's favorite was the liver pate, no surprise there. Dessert was also very unique and amazing.
Reservations aren't easy to come by but if you get in, don't pass the chance to go, you'll likely regret it.
