i would move to philly just to have ray’s everyday. incredible coffee, amazing food. some of the best dumplings i’ve ever had, and definitely best general tsao’s.
I can't believe I haven't tried this place before. It's quite a gem.
I ordered a dumplings sampler as well as an iced coffee. The dumplings were clearly homemade. They are much bigger than a regular one from anywhere in Chinatown. Warning, the dumplings are super juicy.
If you are not sure about the coffee, talk to the owners. They are very educated and particular with they coffee choices.
Yes, the price is slightly higher than the others in Chinatown but it's so worth it. The food and coffee quality is unmatched elsewhere.

Cozy place with friendly and caring staff and delicious coffee! I had the Jamaican Blue Mountain Syphon coffee ???? so delicious! Great place to stroll into on a sunny Saturday morning for some quality coffee to start your day on a good note. Highly recommend!

I went here with some of my good friends on a whim during our trip to Pennsylvania, and it was absolutely fantastic. The place is run by a small family, and the man’s nephews drawings are on the wall (all masterpieces). You can tell how much love is put into everything you order there. While the coffee was $13, he showed us how it’s made and it tasted amazing. It’s a recipe he’s been using for over thirty years! If you’re a fan of pure coffee, go to this place. I could not recommend any place in Philadelphia more if you’re looking for an authentic and wholesome experience. I’m planning on coming back my next trip to Philadelphia.

When you walk in, you feel like you are stepping into a home, welcoming you in for a seat in their dining room. In one meal, you see just how much the people at Ray's cares about everyone who steps in their doors. It seems like every person is picking up on a conversation like they have known each other for years.
And the coffee and food are amazing! I get the 3-Day Beef Noodle Soup and in the words of many talking about bbq, it is a celebration of beef. Even the bok choy has flavor. Everything I have seen come out of the kitchen looks and smells amazing.
They do a lot of take-out, but if you find yourself over by there and want to just enjoy amazing food, coffee, and community, it's definitely worth the stop.

An often overlooked truly Philadelphia establishment. Some of the smoothest coffee you'll ever have the pleasure of drinking, including just enough cream should you want to add it. Always served alongside a house made iced butter cookie, because who doesn't like that with their coffee?
Yes it's a premium prices for a cup of coffee, yes it's worth it if you want a treat and can appreciate the finer things.
Full food menu had expended since my last visit, I need to come back to try the home made dumplings.

This cafe is very warm and welcoming! The employees are very friendly and treat you well! The presentation of how they serve their coffee is adorable and the food is delicious! It was my birthday and they gave me piece of cheese cake, sang to me, and gave me a bag of treats! If you’re looking for good coffee, food, and treats, definitely go here!

We love everything we ordered. Authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup made us nostalgic for home. If you’re in the area you should definitely try!

Found this gem in Philly Chinatown. Lovely family-owned business with all the comfort foods and hospitality!
All of their coffees & drinks are great! I tried the lattes, matcha latte, cold brew coffee (very smooth) & Siphon coffee - pricey but well worth it. Rare to find a place with Siphon coffee gear from Japan & I am happy to be supporting a small minority-owned business.
I also LOVE their Rasberry Oat bar. They hv a delectable selection of breakfast muffins, cake slices, cookies etc.
Meals - I tried their dumpling sampler. Awesome choice and love the homemade chili oil.
The Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup was SO worth it. Again a bit on the pricey side I know BUT try it at least once! The soup is sooooo flavorful, the noodles smooth and soft but not soggy, plentiful veggies and the beef slices melt in your mouth. It’s also a good size bowl so I definitely had leftovers.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised that Angela (owner’s daughter & expert barista) remembered me by my name on the second day I came back. ☺️
