Great outdoor seating on a nice quiet block. Cozy bar/dining room inside with a lovely crowd and friendly staff. The co-owner, Chloe and the manager, Patrick greated us personally as of we were old friends and went above and beyond to create a truly wonderful dining experience. Yes, the food is very good and the cocktails on par, but what distinguishes a great restaurant like this from the rest of the Philly gastropubs is their personal touch and commitment to service excellence. It's one of the few places that seem to genuinely care about their customers and will do everything to make sure that you leave happy, full, and a little tipsy. I highly recommend the Good King... Enjoy!
Good ambience both inside and outside. But the food was sooo sooo salty!
We were too nice but really should have sent our food back given that we were paying almost $30 for the duck and the skatewing. Looking at previous reviews and it seems that others have also complained about the saltiness of their food.
Will definitely not be coming back

The service was friendly, attentive and offered good suggestions. The drinks were delicious but the food was just okay. I hadn't been to the Good King since before Covid and had remembered the food being so good and marking it as must go back next I'm in Philly. This meal didn't leave me wanting to go back.

Stumbled across this neighborhood gem on my way back to my hotel. The staff was very friendly and time to educate me on milk punch, and answered all my questions. The roasted radishes in burre blanc was a new, and delightful, experience.

Took my wife here on a Babymoon. Hotel staff was extreemly friendly and accomodating. We stayed in the castle suites which were absolutely gorgeous and upkeep was prestine. Food menus and resturaunts were fantastic. All we wanted to do was relax and stay on resort enjoying the pool/beach. The reason for a 4 star rating and not a 5 star was the activities and entertainment. Having been to other all inclusives i have seen what a 5 star resort can offer, and these were a little amateur in the performance. The circus show was cool, but theres no designated area really to perform the shows and the shows are done by staff who may have not been trained. Our spa experience was similar, the grounds are beautiful, but we felt rushed through the service which started half hour late, the massage time and milk bath were not the full 50 mins as promised. Wife got the manicure pedicure, which was done a little sloppy and the same person who did the massage also did the nails. She didnt feel as though they do nails professionally which showed. They have no indoor activities either, so if it rains you either have to stay to your room or brave the rain. Only 1 indoor bar as well, which was shut down completely one day due to filming of a movie. If you are looking to relax in a beautiful environment, spending your days at the beach and pool, with access to great food this is the place for you. If you are looking for more entertainement and party or more of a balance between relaxation and entertainment this may not be the resort for you. Regardless we had an excellent time and felt very relaxed.

Fantastic! I loved the atmosphere…the wait staff was wonderful …the food knocked my socks off! Excellent French bistro food that is hearty and comforting. We were not rushed…the wine selection was delicious. I’m actually going to try to contact them today to find out what their playlist is because the music was paired perfectly! So good! I can’t say enough about this place! Go, just go!

We went in on a Saturday night and the host Carmen was so sweet and tried finding us a table even though they were super busy for the night. Even though there was no dining table for us, she was able to sit us at a small table by the bar upstairs for wine and snacks. We ended up being able to order food at the bar downstairs when space opened up, the food was great and the bartender suggested some great drinks.

Tasty food, nice heated outdoor seating, friendly staff! Some unique food items in the menu. We and the kids especially enjoyed the chickpea pancakes (Socca). The cocktails are also surprising, most have unusual ingredients in them. If you feel like experimenting, you should try one of their cocktails.

So. Good. This is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. An eclectic cocktail list, a rotating duck special, tasteful desserts. Bottom line, the entire menu is just... *chef’s kiss*
Cannot recommend the duck specials enough!
**UPDATE** More than a year later, TGKT doesn’t fail to dazzle. My partner and I just visited for outdoor dining and it was a phenomenal, comfortable, fantastic experience. Food is just as great as ever, and the cocktails may be even better than ever!!
It’s worth noting that we’ve also gotten their burgers for takeout numerous times now, and they’re absolutely amazing. One of my top burgers in Philly no question.

Such great French ambiance. The meal by chef Steven and his staff couldn't be any better. Desserts and adult refreshments are stupendous. Great camaraderie by all patrons with an outstanding staff that knows how to present and describe the food being served.
