Great brunch spot if you're looking for something that is a little bit more on the low key side. The food is great and the drinks are good as well. The price is a little bit steep, but overall a great experience.
I really want to like Tio Flores, but their food is so bad, especially considering how outrageously pricey it is. First time I went got served warm beer in a small plastic cup for $6, fair guacamole and chips. Disappointing. Second time to give it a second chance we got $8.50 margs were once again tiny, and I and all of my friends swear didn't have a drop of tequila in any of them. Proceeded to the most half hearted $14 tacos... all of that and a mandatory 20% service charge. Never again. It's so cute and the seating is so good is the only thing that honestly keeps it in business and from me giving it 1 star.

I don’t usually post negative reviews but the situation warrants. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and actually pointed to the item on the menu for the server to see. What was brought to me was the cerviche. I asked to send it back and the server said it’s not their policy to refund for food that the patron simply does not like. Bear in mind, she placed the order wrong and I guess her expectation was that I would simply accept it. Adding to an already bad situation is that a 20% tip is automatically added to the bill so there’s no incentive to ensure quality service. At no point did she apologize nor the manager apologize and both seemed put out. For these and many other reasons, I would avoid Tio Flores.

Live in the neighborhood and wanted to give Tio Flores another try after a few barely average experiences.
The brisket in the tacos had a good smoky flavor, but it was very tough and overcooked. The nachos looked great, yet were so incredibly salty they were difficult to eat.
Sadly, Tio Flores used to have much better food than it does now. Since it has a great vibe and location, hopefully they get the message from all the recent negative reviews. This should be at the bottom of your list for mexican food in Philly.

Nice little place but I’m not sure if this is the new standard but I was automatically charged a 20% tip on my check AND a suggestion to add more tip on the check for a party of 2? I was a server for a very long time and I would never add tips to checks. Where is the incentive to provide a good service if you already know you’re getting at least 20%?? Or at least let your customers know ahead of time?

It was great! Just stopped by for a quick drink and bite and the quesadilla with chicken tinga was unexpectedly delicious! I also had a prickly pear margarita and the chips and salsa. I definitely found a new little spot. The ambiance was nice and they had Bob's Burgers on TV. Win!!!

Service was great and so were the drinks. The Kate night menu was pretty limited with really only one vegan option. Other than that I would highly recommend it.

We dined outside, streetside, and it was a beautiful night! The veggie quesadilla was okay, the fried sweet plantains and blood orange margaritas were good, but the beer-battered corn (even though it was messy) was to DIE for!! Might have to travel from Cleveland again just for that. Any chance you'd share the recipe...?

Excellent Mexican restaurant and bar on South Street and 16th. Good, quick service from the staff here. Prices are reasonable as well. Burritos from $10-14, tacos around $12, beers $4-6, margaritas $8-12. Lots of outdoor seating for the Covid restrictions. Cool ambiance as well with plants and hanging lights, great place for drinks with friends or a date night!

It's not cheap, but the food is pretty good and the beer selection is too. Happy hour begins at 4 on weekdays if you can make it - it's worth it. Discounts on drafts, margs, tacos and more. There's outdoor seating but if the weather is nice, arrive early. There's plenty of indoor seating too. FYI - the happy hour nachos are good, but super small. I think your best bet is tacos.
Update: my partner and I got super sick after eating here that night. We ate no where else and only drank one beer each. Must have been tacos? I called the restaurant to see if anyone else has gotten sick because it was really bad. They were nice about it but I've reduced to three Stars.
