Dinner at Volver was delicious! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The ambiance is very romantic and chill. They have a new manager who was great and attentive. He presented our food and gave us the background and inspiration of the dishes. Everything was delicious. When I didn’t like my cocktail they immediately replaced it with one that for my palate.
My only complaint would be they were out of the lobster appetizer. I had the hamachi instead and it was delicious.
Picture below is the milk and cream, hamachi, crispy lamb chops, roasted duck breast, coco choux, and s’mores.
Went for CCD Restaurant Week and had a great time! The ambience is excellent, our server (I don’t remember her name, but she had a Velvet Underground banana tattoo) was excellent, and food was great! Our cocktails were extremely well-crafted and creative, using classic ingredients in new ways. Along with the branzino, bratattas and salad, we had the strawberry butter biscuits from their resident chef Big Rube. I love the idea of bringing in new chefs to revamp the menu. It makes me think the food there would never get old! I was shocked there were so few people in the restaurant. Their small plates outside of restaurant week are reasonably priced, and the location seems great for happy hours or swanky date nights. I will be back!

Chef is building a fall menu so there were like 10 items available on the menu. They should keep a small excellent menu. Everything was exceptional.

Drinks and apps were good but service was horribly slow and entres were undercooked. Came here on a weekday evening in a small group. The place was empty. First round of drinks and apps came out fast. Then everyone disappeared for an hour and we had to ask for our food and drinks multiple times. Will not return or recommend.

Had a brown derby at the bar was so delicious! Got an appetizer at the bar and the flavor was amazing !! Truly enjoyed my drink and a bite to eat before my show at the Kimmel!

The appetizers were really good! Our dinner left much to be desired. My husband got the crispy chicken with mash potatoes and it was drowned in gravy. The bowl it was served in was also not ideal for eating. I got the trout dish and it left a lot to be desired. The atmosphere is intimate and very nicely decorated. I would probably come back but only for appetizers and drinks.

Excellent preparation and presentation of the dishes. Meals, and a very calm environment to enjoy a conversation. We appreciated the visit of the chef to our table, we enjoyed her sample of one of the dishes. I recommend to consider this restaurant. Not too expensive but high quality.

The experience was well worth the money. If I could give this restaurant a 4.5 I would.
We had the 9 course tasting menu, most of which was delicious and complex in flavor. I really enjoyed the experience and could taste the thought and care that was put into each individual dish. The service was also great with the waiter being diligent and personable the entire time, although he always seemed to be out of breath or generally disheveled.
The only dark spots on a practically brilliant dining experience were the the following:
The empanada that was given in the snack portion of the meal was somewhat greasy and wasn't pleasant to eat. The rest of the snacks were great.
The king crab risotto was definitely the least enjoyable out of all the dishes, but since it is an optional addition, you can simply opt to skip it.
Finally the origin dessert which is a chocolate mousse with mango pearls and a banana sorbet was probably the only true disappointment. The sorbet was listed as coconut in the menu but banana was given. Overall the flavors were underwhelming and the banana sorbet was like eating baby food.
The final dessert, the caramel egg, made up for the origin desert and then some. Delicious to the last bite.
Overall it was a satisfying and enjoyable experience that I would recommend to everyone who would like to experience a fine dining tasting menu.
I would still give it a 4.5 just because it wasn't a complete home run.
According to our waiter, the menu changes seasonally, so we might be returning to sample a different menu. Give it a try. You won't regret it.
Edit on November 2021: we went again on a day with no tasting menu and unfortunately the experience wasn't so positive. Some of the dishes were a miss while others were OK. The second experience was honestly no more than a 3. So to average it out, I'm lowering the overall rating to a 4.

We did the tasting menu. We had been waiting for over a year to get a certain group of us to visit Volver. At some point it was one of the Top 50 restaurants in Philadelphia. It can’t be anymore, right? We had an 8:30 reservation on a Saturday night and the place was almost empty. We closed the place a little after 10! The food was wildly inconsistent. Some plates were fantastic, some pedestrian, others awful.
