Randomly pick a restaurant for late lunch, and surprisingly there is a great restaurant that's I found here. The foods are tastes good and I really like the Irish coffee here. You might need to order your food at the counter before you take a seat on the table, overall there's great for all.
We came here for HRW. It was absolutely phenomenal! The service was great as was the food. I had the octopus, duck, and cheesecake. Everything was amazing! Such a great experience!

Awesome spot for an upscale brunch! Food, service, and ambiance are all amazing. I've yet to try anything on the menu that was less than stellar!!

Bistro Menil describes themselves as "European-inspired, American fare paired with craft beer, cask wine, and thoughtfully selected wines by the glass or bottle". This is exactly what I encountered when dining at Bistro Menil and wholeheartedly recommend you dine here. Greg Martin, chef and proprietor, is actively engaged in the day to day operations with him constantly making rounds asking diners about their experience during my visit. His enthusiasm is reflected in the service and quality of food.
I visited during Houston restaurant week and was able to try multiple items on their tasting menu. The octopus was perfectly seasoned and very reminiscent of octopus I enjoyed in Spain. The crab cakes were phenomenal with a perfect consistency. What Chef Greg seemed most proud of was his 12 hour short rib to which I can attest was phenomenal. It was tender, juicy, and complimented perfectly by the port wine and shallot reduction. Finally, the lemon tart and basque cheesecake were a delightful ending to an incredible meal.
I would also like to note the mixed vermouths on ice that have a very unique herbal combination that I have not found anywhere else.
In closing, I cannot recommend Bistro Menil enough. Chef Greg Martin's passion is evident and contagious. Bistro Menil is a credit to the Houston food scene and definitely worth your time.

Art museum cafeterias and bistros are among my favorite places to eat. This one is my new favorite. Just across the street from the museum, the bistro is housed in what was once a bungalow in a leafy neighborhood. The atmosphere is lovely and the decor is appealing. My wife and I had lunch outside on the shadey deck. The waitress was perfectly attentive, giving us enough time to study the menu and reappearing right when we were ready to order. We started with the fried calamari, which had a thin crispy batter covering tender fresh squid. It came with a tangy chili dipping sauce with just the right amount of heat. I ordered the classic burger with bite-sized fried potatoes. The burger was cooked perfectly and came on a toasted brioche bun with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and dijonaise sauce. The chili sauce was served with the potatoes along with a small cup of pickles. My wife got the crab crepes which were stuffed with crab meat. It came with a side salad and zucchini salary topped with sweet, savory bits of bacon. A wonderful meal and I can’t wait to go back.

Don’t miss the goat cheese fondue! This place offers a great quality and is very much French authentic, the location is a great spot to walk around and see the art as well. Patio is dog friendly!

We went for Saturday brunch. I ate Vietnamese Steak n eggs. The dish came out perfect, hot eggs, steak cooked medium rare.
The plate was very pretty.
Staff for our large party was outstanding.

A wonderful and elegant spot to dine. I throughly enjoyed the lunch I had during Houston Restaurant Weeks and time spent with my Mother after strolling in the Menil. Their selection of wines is also fantastic. If you are looking for the perfect spot to enjoy some amazing art and delicious food, make plans to go to Bistro Menil.

High tea was excellent! Courses included champagne or an Italian soda flowed by soup of the day (an excellent potato and asparagus soup for us), and the dessert and sandwich tower with salmon sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, crab cake bites, and mini blts with chocolate mousse, lemon tarts, and creme brulee. Every dish was excellent. The jasmine green tea was great as well. Comes out to $65 a person with tax included (from their calculations in the receipt) in a party of 4.

So cute! Greta place for lunch or high tea if you’re in the area. The food and desserts were delicious just missing the scones. I poured some of the raspberry Italian soda into my champagne for sweeten it up. Very casual attire. Indoor and outdoor seating.
