My husband and I have been visiting this restaurant since 2012 but last night we did not receive the level of service that we are normally used to. We showed up 10 minutes before our reservation time and were quickly seated which was great but it quickly went downhill after that. Our waiter who we didn’t even get the name of because besides the loud tables we were sat next to, the music in the restaurant was so loud acted like we were wasting his time. After getting our waters out to us he disappeared and only came back for our food order because I made eye contact with him. We asked him for some olive oil for our bread but that never came out. We ordered our food and when it came out my salmon was almost room temperature. I asked for more lemon sauce for my salmon and by the time it came out I was pretty much done with my food, but our waiter did remember to bring out the olive oil with my lemon sauce. Great. Our waiter was more concerned about catering to the large party near us, not once did he come and check to see if our food was ok, if we needed anything and the only time he came by is if we waived him down. At this point I was over it. My husband and I like to come here for a date night without our kids, when we feel like spending a bit more and treating ourselves. For almost 100.00 I shouldn’t be made to feel like I’m inconveniencing our waiter and taking up his time. After last nights visit I will gladly stick to frequenting Grottos just a few miles ahead. Same food, better atmosphere and better pricing. I know they’re the same company but people go to La Griglia in River Oaks to spend their hard earned money, to have a nice quiet meal, not to feel like they’re at a club.
We came here a birthday. I asked the hostess to let our server know about the birthday and requested the Italian wedding cake. She said they were out of it, but I saw it on another table later on. Our server was very short with us at times and when he brought the check he just literally tossed it on the table and walked off. The food was decent but the service was not the best. This restaurant is past its prime, and the only reason I come back is for the Italian wedding cake (aka strawberry ricotta cake).

First time here and everything was wonderful. All the servers were attentive and helpful. Cole was our server and he made great suggestions so we took him up on that. He picked out our wine, our pizza and dessert! He did an excellent job, always made sure our table was clean and set up for our next course. We’ll definitely be back to visit him! Thank you!

The food was delicious. We all bought different plates and shared, and there was nothing that I didn't like. The service was A+. My only complaint is that the tables are really close to each other, so it's hard to move around for the servers, and it gets too loud, almost to the point you barely can hear the person next to you.
But the food is OMG
The shrimp cheesecake is one of the best!

The starter bread and 'pizza' they bring out free of charge is divine- makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
started off with their Caesar salad- it was just okay. For dinner, the mushroom risotto dish- it was flavorful and rich.
The ambiance was lovely ???? I will have to have a date here in the future. Service was great, they had multiple people running food ensuring it was hot when it hit the table, as well as servers checking up on water and bringing additional parmesan. Great experience. Thanks, La Griglia!

I could literally just eat the pizza bread they start you off with, it’s so delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The appetizers and dessert were delicious. The entree was a little bland but I would definitely try it again. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming and overall a good experience. Definitely recommend the shrimp and crab cheesecake!

Pros.
My daughter took me here for Mother's Day.
La Griglia is an upscale Italian restaurant, with a nice artsy atmosphere. The food was pretty tasty. The manager was attentive.
Cons. The bread and pizza slices were cold. We had reservations for 5pm. We arrived at 4:45. We were asked to wait...not a problem. We stood to the side, but were then asked to move from the host area. Ummm...ok. However another party of 2 appeared without a reservation, and the hostees offered them a table before my daughter and me. Another greeter came and corrected the error, but it felt awkward. We were seated by 5:15.

We did not have reservations, however, they are highly encouraged especially for later dining. The bar was open and not crowded. We went once they opened on a Saturday and were seated right away. At that point our experience here was great..
Service
We had a main server, Alex, but they all worked as a team to ensure we were serviced well throughout our dining. We never ran low on water, and if you're a bread eater, they brought such if you asked. They provided recommendations and were knowledgeable about the menu.
Drinks
If you're a wine drinker, they had a plethora of options. If your prefer a cocktail, they've got you covered there as well. The cocktails lacked no flavor and potent. The Italian Margarita (on the rocks) had a peculiar taste, but still a menu favorite. Peach Bellini (frozen) is perfect for a hot day.
Food
The pasta and brick oven pizza were fresh and homemade, which was to be expected. The chicken parmesan, pasta of the day, and fettuccine were good..no complaints. They have kid-friendly option as well. One minor mention, the pasta of the day included different seafood including crab, but the full crab was fried, which was a not preferred. If you're wanting a salad, be sure to ask what kind of green leaves are used if you have a preference.
I'd recommend this place for fresh Italian, service, and experience (not necessarily live soft music ambience establishment).

Amazing atmosphere. My wife and I was very pleased with everything we ordered. Food was very good for the price and portion. It isnt as fine dining compared to Potente, but you will definitely leave feeling full and have leftovers. Service was exceptional. Seem like the service issue that the other reviewers mentioned was during Covid when numbers were high. Now it seems like everything is back to normal. The restaurant is walking distance for us so we will be back really soon. Can't wait!

Awesome service, ambiance, and food! I haven't been here for several years. But used to come often. La Griglia is a great place for a wide variety of Italian food done right. It was my birthday and my mom asked where do we go. This was on the short list. It was a Friday and we passed up Perry's Pork Chop Special, and didn't give it a second thought. From the Appetizers to the Desserts everything was spectacular. I drink quite a but of Ice Tea and it was ALWAYS full. Can't wait to go back now that I live in the neighborhood again.
