Nice place, great food. We went a day with a country band but waiters were not prepared to have a crowded place. They were turning crazy with so many people. Recommended. Again another day and was much better.
The food is super delicious but than again I keep ordering the same thing. The staff is just as awesome as the food and so pleasant. The patrons appear to be usuals/regulars from the looks at how their greeted. I've been to this place 3x within a week so I would highly suggest trying it out before you drive pass this hidden gem.

Crawfish Review-
Lafayette Cajun has good crawfish, medium large and no fishy smell.
The seasoned boil mix for some reason is dry when the crawfish are served, none to be seen at the bottom.
Small corn and potato.
The drawn butter is the best I've ever seen or tasted at any restaurant, hi praise!
The rest of the authentic Louisiana style menu looks very accomplished and will try after crawfish season.
I would come back for crawfish.

First time eating here. We sat looking at reviews while we waited, and saw that slow service was a common issue. The waiter is also the owner, and possibly the cook.
We ordered a variety of items, the fried alligator appetizer, the boudin ball appetizer, the catfish and etouffee lunch special (with a redbeans & rice sub), the shrimp and oyster plate & a side of garlic bread.
The alligator came out first. The flavor was great (probably the highlight of the meal) but the batter was soft and mushy peeling off the meat inside, which was disappointing.
Next was the boudin balls. The batter on these was a little crispier than the alligator, but the boudin filling was just decent. It lacked some spices and the texture was a bit more mushy than I care for. The best ones I've ever had fall somewhere just in the middle. I've eaten at a few places on what Louisiana calls "the boudin trail" a tour guide of the best ranked boudin restaurants in Louisiana.
Then our main entrees arrived. The catfish had decent flavor, the majority of it was of a thickness that it wasnt dry or chewy. It had a little bit of a fishy flavor, but wasnt bad. The etouffee was probably my 2nd favorite item. It was mushy however, due to what seemed to be crushed rice as a thickener rather than flour and cream. It was similar to a thick rice soup. The flavor however was really good, had some spice, wasnt fishy at all and was filling, an order of this on a cold rainy day would hit the spot.. I gave my friend some and they agreed it was one of the better items.
My friend was most impressed by the alligator as well, but said it was amazing when put on top of the garlic toast like a po-boy.
The last glitch in the visit came at checkout. I noticed my total was nearly the same as my friends, yet he had ordered a more expensive meal & appetizer. I went back inside, the owner re-added everything twice and refunded me the difference of about $6.
While it was one of the more expensive meals of our trip, and overall the food wasnt bad, it fell a bit short of what I had hoped for. Not sure I would make this a destination in the future, but if I was in the area again, I would consider going back.

Food was decent, but definitely not Cajun/Creole. I got the Lafayette pasta with chicken. Chicken wasn’t well seasoned. Boudin balls were better then the actual main course. Service was above average.

Gumbo was good. Crackers were STALE WHEN SERVED with the GUMBO. I asked the older Mexican guy taking our order and serving our food and he Stated that it WASN'T HIS PROBLEM and there was a shortage of CRACKERS! He continued with THINGS are HARD to GET right now..Other than that the my guy's Seafood Platter was Good and my Lobster and shrimp Pasta was good BESIDES my OVERCOOKED RUBBER LOBSTER TAIL that I couldn't cut with a butter knife...3 Stars because flavor was good. I won't be returning, Happy Eating Guys!

C for effort. It was our first time here and when we walked in, we wasn't greeted or even acknowledged. When we seated ourselves we waited almost ten minutes before my guy friend got up to get menus. Once we finally ordered it took over 20 min for the onion rings and oysters. Onion rings were too too salty. For the entrée fish had no seasoning and the lobster & shrimp pasta was like a great value Pappaduex. This was a meal and service I definitely did NOT enjoy.

Excellent place to come for some wonderful cajun food. No matter what you get it will be delicious. We got The Langostinos(crawfish), The blackened snapper opelousas, our kid got the chicken tenders and fries and the bread pudding. It was all 'chefs kiss' delicious.

This place is a hidden gem. Kinda old school diner style spot but dont let that fool you, the service is on point and attentive. I had the crab cakes in butter sauce and they are so delicious and go great with the diet rice and crawfish etouffee. Also the boudin balls are very tasty. My daughter had the catfish and though it was a little under seasoned it was cook nice and crispy and only needed a pil salt in my book.
