country-style barbecue restaurant in the Heights. The food and service are excellent. The seating is on the patio. The vegan option is French. Fries and beer. But the beer was cold the French fries well seasoned. The barbecue sauce is tangy and good. My friend loved the chicken sandwich. The service was friendly and prompt. Tone caveat parking can be a challenge
My friend wanted BBQ . Once again did not disappoint. Take away order fast we’ll made cold beer . The service friendly Peppers didn’t disappoint her. This time no one was masked. I stayed with a beer take away .No masks or gloves
Had not really noticed this place before; glad we came here. Had a pork plate with creamed corn and cole slaw and also a "loaded smashed potato" with brisket. Everything was tasty. The meat was flavorful and great especially the brisket. I didn't really know what "smashed potato" was from the name and the potato was more like potato salad (mayonnaise-y) than a regular baked potato; I liked it as it was but maybe would have rather had a regular baked potato. Service was fast and friendly. Seating available mostly outside but a little inside too. Want to come back.

Really good BBQ! Good flavor, not dry. The brisket was moist and the pork ribs were soft and tasty, everything was good! Good and friendly staff.

Ordered the 3 meat combo, one piece of meat for each. It’s a sweet sauce. You can definitely tell the sausage is homemade which is a plus. The rib was nicely seasoned but not fall off the bone. For first time at a place I order a moist brisket. It was fattier than other places in the area for sure.
So overall on the meats it was average. The area is so competitive where I can say I will pay $29.99 for a 3 meat plate for quality & quantity versus $10 less for overpriced, average. The guy at the front was really nice however behind the line they were all unmasked. Unmasked & talking over slicing up & weighing my meats kind of grossed me out. It’s the times we are living in now & if you are bold enough to do it in front of customers who really knows how your food is handled.

We HAD to try this place out because someone said they had the best Brisket in Houston and we took it upon ourselves to test this theory out. We love Rudy's but after trying Piper's BBQ, we have a new favorite spot!! Finally a good BBQ spot in the loop! Food is sooo good!

Quality BBQ, great people working there and a nice open set up. It’s definitely something to put on your radar. Meat was absolutely delicious, the Mac and cheese was outstanding and the pepper cream corn was different in a pleasantly surprising way.

After driving past Piper's and smelling the BBQ for months, it was time to finally stop by for a meal. The majority of the restaurant seating is patio/open air - which is great for COVID precautions. The loaded smashed potato with pulled pork was delicious, and the portion was huge (easily could have been 2 meals)!

The huge patio here’s the real story. The barbecue was fantastic, and while I didn’t get to try the ribs, that’s my fault for getting there at 7 PM. That said, the fact that you can get great barbecue somewhere at night in Houston is new to me, so feel free to come here on a Friday night and know that they’re going to have a decent amount of barbecue left. The brisket is quality, but the pulled pork is amazing. I’m usually a meat and two sides guy, but they’re loaded smashed potatoes with pulled pork was amazing. On top of that, the price was astoundingly low for barbecue in Houston.

This place is really something else! It sits quietly across from the HEB on N. Shepherd, with its super cozy front, wrap-around porch, perfect to get a plate full of bbq and sip on one of the many standard bottled cokes or beers.
If you like pleasantly smokey bbq, to the comparison of Truth, Pinkerton's or maybe Rudy's, you definitely need to stop on in.
If you like variety, grab a few friends and get the Big Tex ($59.95 4-5/person plate combo) as it has just about everything on it that they offer.
Normally, not very many bbq establishments make EVERYTHING AWESOME, but, Piper's does! From the perfectly tender and trimmed brisket to the generous pepper rub on the chicken to the virtually greaseless pulled pork...you're going to have a hard time not gorging excessively on everything!
I can't just boast about their bbq meats without paying homage to their sides! The creamed corn was super thick and creamy and their macaroni was pretty gooey-good!
Definitely a great day-drinking and lunchtime spot before grocery shopping or afterwards.

We decided to stop by Piper's today for lunch and we are happy we did. The brisket and pulled pork were amazing and the hot potato salad is some of the best potato salad we've had. We've been to Truth bbq, Pinkertons, Gatlin's, Killeen's and Teja's and Piper's delivers the same class BBQ the others do. HIGHLY recommend this place. Cool atmosphere and no lines :) I won't be surprised if that changes soon once word gets out.
