First time here at the first and oldest restaurant on the Riverwalk, 75 years. Ordered a really spicy margarita when the chips and salsa came out. The salsa is good but average spicy, so I paid $1.50 for their special spicy and it was worth it. I got the Commerce St. Tacos, 3 tiny, tinier than street tacos, but flavorful. The food came out in literally less than 10 mins. Ultra fast I was impressed. Sat outside along the river. Very nice atmosphere.
We received a welcome reception invitation to Casa Rio which was a short six minute walk from the Marriott Rivercenter. The location is amazing… right on the Riverwalk. They offer waterside dining, private dining rooms, music and a friendly staff. The event was held in The Veranda room which was setup buffet style offering unlimited food, drinks and networking. The food was decent but the service was great!

Love this favorite historic restaurant on the San Antonio Riverwalk since 1946 which makes it the oldest restaurant on the River. I’ve been going here since I was a young girl. It has indoor seating but my favorite is their great outdoor seating along the Riverwalk with excellent service, food and prices. Our server was Roxy and she provided excellent and very attentive service. She also knew some amazing history about their restaurant. Highly recommend her. There is also traveling mariachi band that will frequent this restaurant and plays by request which is another nice treat and adds to the wonderful ambience here. If you go to the famous and historic San Antonio Riverwalk, you need to give Casa Rio a try.

Casa Rio
Ambiance- outside table was a bit hot and VERY noisy. Don’t expect to have a conversation with the entire table
Location- on the Riverwalk
Food -Excellent margaritas, chips & salsa was fresh and full of flavor. The fajitas were excellent with chicken, steak, peppers & onions. The charro beans and rice was very tasty
Service- extremely rushed by the server. We were seated at 8:30 and they close at 9 PM. Everything was literally thrown at us on the table as the server passed by. Not the type of service you would expect
Suggestions- if you can’t offer good service after 8 or 8:30, don’t seat guest and rush them through their meals. Not a pleasant experience

First restaurant to open on the river walk it is a must! It’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We were about to leave town on Wednesday, and decided to go down for late “breakfast” since they open at 11am. Weather was great and we got a table outside. Service was fast and friendly. We had shrimp tacos and the Deluxe dinner plate. The deluxe came with chips and queso, guacamole, a taco, an enchilada, a tamale and rice and beans. Good size portions. I had to try their flan. A little pricey and kinda small but very good and looked so pretty! We had a great time and could enjoy the Riverwalk a bit more.

This location is great. It is right at the hub of the river walk and has nice outside seating, live music and great vibes. The service was fast and friendly. The food wasn't anything especially good but it was reasonably priced. We ordered the regular plate and combinations plates with chalupas and enchiladas. We also got non-alcoholic peach and strawberry daquiri's which were very yummy.

This is my first time being in Texas and I wasn't disappointed. The food was very good and the employees were very friendly. I ordered the choose three meal which was enchilada, flauta and a tamale which also came with refried beans. We also ordered the taco meal. The only bit of advice I would say is to call ahead and make a reservation because the wait was long and at one point they stopped taking walk-up names. But if you do get in, it's worth it.

Casa Rio is well located and the restaurant is very nice and well preserved, unfortunately the food looked like it was store bought, the guacamole was cold and not seasoned. We ordered the deluxe platter, the taco that came with it looked like it was from taco bell, also cold and very basic. The refried beans were fine as well as the meat, the tamale was also bad. Drinks were good and our server was very nice.

Place is great! Food was awesome, the river view was great and the service was unbelievable! My coworker and I sheared the fajitas for one and it was more than enough food for us. I thinks it’s the oldest restaurant on the river walk. Check it out for sure!

The food was okay but the margaritas were amazing. It was by far the best spicy margarita I’ve ever had. Service was friendly and relatively quick. The outdoor seating is great listening to the boats pass by and it’s very dog friendly.
