Place is awesome always clean and beautiful. This was for my daughters 5th birthday and this place here, let me tell you is great. Has been for years. So much fun a whole party of complete strangers sang happy birthday and made it that much better. And it's an old dairy queen from back in the day .
The food and service were great! The waitress was sweet and the food came out quick. I loved the art work they had up. If you choose to eat outside, the patio is well shaded and decorated with beautiful potted plants. It also has fans for cooling. The owner also came by to check in on our visit. He was so friendly. Everything was perfect. I went back that same week for lunch.

5 STAR RESTAURANT AND FOOD
My sister & brother in law took me and my daughter to eat at this amazing restaurant while we were visiting San Antonio.
I’m from New Mexico and have eaten at so many different Mexican restaurants that claimed it was authentic Mexican food and honestly its really not even close. Los Barrios restaurant by far is THE BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD I’ve had in a restaurant! Ever.
My Hispanic grandmother and mother taught me how to make fantastic Mexican food growing up. With the exception of my families dishes this was AS GOOD AS our home cooked meals!
I have never been impressed by any Mexican restaurant before but this is one restaurant you will be happy you went. The food is outstanding! It is REAL MEXICAN FOOD. I could tell everything was homemade from the tortillas down to the salsa.
The restaurant is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. We didn’t even wait long for our food to be served. Prices are decent too.
If you’re ever in San Antonio please stop by for a meal. I promise you that you will be served a fantastic dinner all made in house.
*I am not being paid or compensated in any way for giving my honest opinion. I just want to share this wonderful place for anyone who craves and wants real Mexican food at decent prices.
Thank you Los Barrios for one of the best dinners I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at a restaurant.

I am so happy to edit my review. After being contacted by restaurant we decided to give it a second try. The food was exquisite and the dessert even better.
I normally wouldn't have given them a second try but the level of care demonstrated by management got me to go back!!!

Put it this way, I remember when that little room that people sit in to dine now was the kitchen ???? Family friends and still going strong! Worth the wait if you're coming with family! What to eat? Everything ???? Thanks as always for another memorable experience!

The place is ok, needs maintenance. The food and drink are awful. I ordered a sampler, most of it tasted pre-made or frozen heated on microwave. Guacamole actually tasted funny, not fresh at all. We also ordered tacos, same with the beef meat, really bad taste. Margaritas were bad, in every aspect. Even the beer was not cold. I don't recommend it.

Los Barrios is very popular with the locals in San Antonio. Visitors may not notice the building as they maintain a low-key appearance. Once inside, it's clear this is no small venture. There are three large dining areas, plus a large outdoor patio dining section. The entry foyer is ornate with Talavera style tiling and some gift-shop items. The dining areas are clean & neat, with a very open feeling due to the high ceilings and wall of windows to the patio dining area. The menu is large, with most Mexican dish you would expect. Prices are moderate, leaning to the high side but not excessive. My local friends rave about the place, and this was our second attempt to go, the first visit nixed due to the long wait time. The food was good. Our waitress disappeared after taking our order and never visited again until we had to hunt her down for the check, even though the place wasn't half full at this time. This is a good place to take out-of-towners who may not enjoy one of the cozy smaller mom & pop Mexican restaurants which are all around town.

It does not make sense Hot Souce is free, and chips are not. Food is horrible, not even close to being Mexican food. I can not believe people even eat here; I stop by on my way to see a customer before heading out to my hometown Houston. We have better food than this; the taco truck is even better than this food. Stay away from here!

This one only gets three stars for several reasons. The puffy tacos are really good and it was the only thing that was good! Oh, and the ice tea. The portions are tiny, like less then a kids plate for rice and beans the salad on the plate was old and lettuce brown. You can see it in the pics kind of! Same lettuce in the tacos. You are charged .49 cents for cheese if you want it on the tacos. The enchilada sauce is more like a hot dog chili sauce and the enchiladas were the smallest I have ever seen in my life. The server I didn’t get her name but she is why they get the third star. They charge you for chips and salsa 1.99 for a tiny 16oz bowl of chips. I would definitely go here again but only for the puffy taco and tea!

I ate lunch here with the family it was definitely good compared to some other “Mexican” restaurants. The food was amazing! I rated 4 stars due to the service from the hostess. She sat us next to their storage room with the doors wide open so we had a nice view of some cleaning buckets and ladder and some other stuff that you don’t want to look at while you’re eating. The table she put together was dirty it still had food crumbs all over it. When the waiter came we asked for a new table. Anyways back to the food, the cabrito is a must try it’s super tender. My husband had the chicken red mole which he enjoyed. There isn’t many restaurants that can make a good red mole. I would definitely recommend this place.
