It was very crowded when we got there. Put your name in and then grab a drink at the bar - we thankfully found two seats easily. The atmosphere is loud and there are a lot of kids here. Very touristy but still a fun place and fairly walkable from the River front.
Friends suggested we eat at Mi Tierra and I'm glad we did! The restaurant is huge, but even at a little bit of an off time, around 3pm, we still had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. We were able to order drinks at the bar while we waited so it really wasn't a problem, just allow a little extra time if you go. The decor and art throughout the restaurant was very unique. Our server was great and the food came out quickly when we ordered. We both had the Mexican Plate and liked everything on it. The plates were large and they provided plenty of hot tortillas to go with the meal. Great restaurant!

The experience is festive and full of life. Beautiful interior and the mariachi is awesome for $10. Organize with registration wait time was 35 minutes. Tortillas were bomb. Having said all that. I didn't enjoy the tight squeeze in and out. The food was mediocre, nothing stood out with the taste buds. When your hungry and your food isn't splendid was a negative. The waiter was more concern with throwing out the plates and tending to the next table. I recommend beating the crowd.

We've been here a few times, most recently, July 21st for dinner. The food, service and atmosphere is always great. They also have great items in their bakery section. We will definitely keep coming back.

One of the favorites in San Antonio - a must! The experience is as much fun as the food. Food is always good and hot. Typical Mexican restaurant fare with a few traditional dishes sprinkled in the menu. The bakery is the star! Be sure to get something to go before you leave.

First time here and it was amazing. The food delicious and the service was pretty good too. Carlos was wonderful and sold me all the desserts. Its decorated so beautifully inside and even though there was a major line we were able to sit in a reasonable time. Worth a visit and worth the wait. Oh don't forget to have the mariachi play you a song at your table. So cool!

I came here with my family during a visit to San Antonio.
It’s strange that my review was taken down.
As I stated in my original post, upon walking in, we were greeted warmly by the waiters and saw a wonderful assortment of pan dulce. The charm ended when we noticed the waitresses are required to wear poorly made, cheap dresses meant to imitate traditional Mexican dresses worn in certain regions of Mexico. The dresses look like costumes.
However, we were still looking forward to the food but we were also left dissatisfied. The food was more like salty Tex-Mex than actually authentic Mexican food. It’s completely overpriced. The restaurant is baiting white non-Mexican tourists and we completely regret having gone here. This restaurant is a poor representation of Mexican cuisine and culture.
The wait staff is also extremely overworked. I mention it because our waitress began to raise her voice and talk down to one of us for requesting help once we received our food. I don’t blame her, I blame the people in charge. If your wait staff is over worked and overwhelmed, it only results in a bad environment and experience for everyone. I should mention this was on a Monday evening.
Needless to say, we will not be returning. Stay away from this place. Ask a local for recommendations on Mexican food if that’s what you’re looking for.
It’s a shame this business exists in the place of something that could be truly remarkable and gives proper respect and justice to Mexican food and culture. Sigh.

Food was truly fantastic, and seemed authentic. Great spice and unique flavors. Yes, there will be a wait, and it will probably be at least 45 min. Was it worth it? Yes, I though so. Get your painter for a table, then stand in line for pastries. Both items we got were good enough for us to bring with us on a 2 hour drive!

A family favorite for 50 plus years. Food always delicious and authentic. Chicken enchiladas en mole. My first visit was in 70s my great uncle knew the owner and we would dine occasionally at a large table. My great uncle worked for the El Po Po tortilla company. Taking my wife and daughter there is always fun and a tradition.
We were there during Fiesta. Long wait was worth it. Thank you for another wonderful dining experience.

First thing I can say is I grew up with Mexican food as a staple, and this is authentic. It’s high quality. My only negative here was the price seemed high for the quantity of food but if I’m being honest with you what makes it worth it is the atmosphere. It’s just a beautiful place filled with beautiful staff and there’s always great music. This is a wonderful place to make memories. Memories that don’t leave you. I remember every time I’ve been here so vividly it’s a phenomenon in itself. If you’re coming through San Antonio and happen upon this review and you don’t mind pricey Mexican food, come here to make Memories.
