The Goods: The Food is AMAZING ???? ???????? I've been to a few Soul Food Places around the city and I haven't quite found a spot that gave my taste buds that POW! I enjoyed this place and loved the staff. They were extremely professional, welcoming and funny. I love the pricing, A-La Cart for everything is why I see there are lines when I drive by firing rush hour.
The Ugly: Presentation means everything; I feel that if she invested in more infrastructure she would have soo much business. An Angel investor could reap profits for building up this compact, giving her a better location (maybe same street but a stand alone diner). The place is small and its buffet style which has its gifts and curses.
Even with the negative side.. I stand by my stars.. I Said What I Said

Hands down the best soul food I've had in LA. I'm from Georgia so the bar has been set high. Staff is always nice and they give you HUGE portions. Definitely would try the smothered pork chops or chicken. You also can't beat the price. You'll definitely need a nap after eating here.

Today I ordered a smothered pork chop, mac &cheese, black eyed peas and two cornbread muffins. I was overcharged $5.50 by the cashier. She charged me for a fried pork chop which I didn't order and nor was it in my plate. I should have realized something was wrong when she rushed and put my receipt in the bag without handing it to me. I realized I was overcharged in reviewing my receipt once I returned home. The cornbread muffins were hard as if they were old and reheated. I will not be patronizing this restaurant again. Please review your receipt before leaving this restaurant or you may become a victim like I was.

Just spent 28 dollars on a plate of cold food at 1pm. No warning. They never open on time, and unless its a Sunday they open with only 2-3 entrees availble (stuff you don't want). The food is good when they actually have what you want, but they rarely do. It often takes them 10 minutes to serve one person even though the food is already hot. Stereotypical black business downfall. This place could make a ton more money if they were run more professionally. I wish i had the money to purchase I would have this place jumping.

Chef Marilyn's food is nothing short of outstanding. Whenever I order my food, she never fails to impress me with her great southern style cooking. Her staff are true professionals, and provide great customer service.

The food is always delicious here! Reasonably priced soul food. Ah la carte style but i had two plates, 1 being oxtails which were amazing and full of meat without all the fat and spent under $50. Great Large sized portions too!!!

I haven't been here in about 3 to 4 yrs... I went last month and was very disappointed???? I wanted meatloaf, mashed potatoes and sweet corn... The meatloaf was nasty???? the mashed potatoes was definitely boxed and not from scratch???? and the only veggies they had was collard greens and I don't eat collard greens????... What a shame... and the corn muffins tasted like they were a few days old. This place use to be poppin!!... I should of known better not to go back there again when I seen a roach in there 4yrs ago!!????

Chef Marilyn never fails to deliver! Her food is consistently fresh, high quality, and delicious! It is a bit pricy, but let’s be honest, we often pay much more for food that tastes worse just in the name of “luxury.” Her prices are not ridiculous, but they are a little high. Besides that, her food tastes like good Southern home cooking. It’s good to remember what that feels like.

My mom went to get some food yesterday I wasn't with her so I don't know about the staffs customer service, she ordered 3, dinners 2 meatloaf and a short ribs dinner. 2 of the dinners sides were greens and yams and 1 was yams and rice. We thought rice always comes with meatloaf but i guess not its considered a side. The greens were ok I have some left over I need to cook them a little more. The yams were ok just not enough either vanilla and or nutmeg. The meat portions are good I guess, 1 big piece of meatloaf and 1 short rib.
