The food here is truly phenomenal. The service, ambiance, and overall dining experience were equally phenomenal (if not more). The entire staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and informative; which elevated my dining experience even further! Each dish was packed with robust, umami flavors— I ordered the Char Sui, seasonal veggies (this was beyond incredible), spare ribs, and Dan Dan noodles. The Char Sui and seasonal veggies were by far my favorite, which doesn’t take away from the other dishes because they were all mouthwatering. The cocktails were also a great cherry on top.

Being Chinese/Cantonese myself, I'm more hypercritical with our food - and this definitely exceeded all of my expectations. You can genuinely tell that they pour their heart and soul into everything at this restaurant. I definitely want to come back to try the black sesame cheesecake dessert. Don't walk, RUN!

Wow, this place blew my mind!!!

First of all, the seasonal vegetables are a must-try. I know, I know -- how exciting could vegetables be? My friend said it was literally the first time in his life he enjoyed cauliflower. It has the perfect smokiness and wok hay which is impossible to replicate at home. The soy sauce chicken was also perfectly succulent.

The restaurant is a family-run business run by the sweetest people you'd ever meet. Rica is a firecracker and so incredibly lovely, as well as all the family members I spoke to. It's rare to get a home away from home, especially in a big city like LA.

Would recommend Chifa to all those in search of a meal made with love!

Went in while visiting, lots to say about this place.

No parking lot available, must park on the streets, usually full.

Ambiance :
Loved the decorations and theme of the restaurant. Designer utensils, themed lanterns, and shaded seating area.

Drinks 2/5:
I ordered the Lai Cha and chicha morada. The Lai Cha was subpar with an over-brewed bitter taste and additional sugar to compensate, you're better off trying it at other places. The same can be said about the chicha, so I added a bit of water to balance the ratio.

Food:

I ordered the tiradito and char siu. The tiradito felt like their approach to a traditional Peruvian ceviche. If you've never had Peruvian ceviche before, this place is not the best to go for. Instead, the tiradito has its own merit, own fragrance, but lacks that special kick in spice (4/5).

As for the char siu, the Chinese sauces are definitely homemade with a bit of extra charing to get the caramelized layer over the pork. The taste is great (5/5), but I found a hair in my meal after the first bite, not a pleasant experience since the food itself is not cheap (1/5).

Overall, the portions are definitely not balanced to the price you pay. So this place isn't a budget friendly nor family friendly place for the average LA consumer. You can share each dish with one person, but it's really meant for one serving.

Merchandise:

I loved their merch, as the colors and design are unique and well defined (5/5).

Overall, I enjoyed my visit but will probably not be dining here again. I just hope other places in the area do not begin to buy out the already amazing restaurants in the area.

Beautiful interior, imaginative menu, but it’s a place to experience, not really enjoy the food because it’s very…lackluster. My friends and I shared bbq shrimp, fried rice, grilled veggies, tea, and Eat Nunchi’s iconic corn jelly desert.

Great presentation, but I’d go elsewhere for good food. The hype is bigger than reality.

So great to be back in Cali after travelling. The thing I miss most when travelling in Europe and the Caribbean is good Asian food. This place is ridiculously good! Fusion (in a good way), great prices, atmosphere, the service, and the food! The chashu was to die for!

This is the spot for Chinese-Peruvian food in LA.

There's extremely limited seating indoors, so I recommend making a reservation on Tock if it looks to be a good night when you plan to go.

The outdoor seating in the back was well organized. The heaters were both effective and placed at a good distance. Never felt sweat and rarely felt a chill. There's a tarp overhead to keep the wind under control.

Meal-wise, absolutely excellent. The pollo ala brasa and lomo saltado are top tier picks. Lomo saltado in particular, as it's a national dish and has the feel of Chinese stir-fry with Peruvian flare.

One thing to note is that they didn't serve pisco sours at the time I went. I think they're still sorting out their kitchen, so keep that in mind if that's an expectation you have.

I loved the fusion in all the dishes present at Chifa. I knew I wanted to hit it on my trip to LA and I'm glad I did. Everything I had was delicious. If I lived here I'd stop by alot.
