Came here for Sunday dinner with the church family and we loved it. The food was great. The outside seating was perfect for our big group. The last time I came here the wait was pretty long but not this time!! Will definitely be back for special occasions (:

Presentation was good.. Chicken was ok. Mac was just mixed with a bunch of seasoning. Yams too sweet. Red beans n rice was undercooked. Muffins was the only reason for the 2 stars.

Not good. $25 for "short ribs". Where are the bones. More like old steak cooked 2 days ago smothered in tasteless gravy. Rice was ok. No seasoning except for the green beans and cabbage. The worst part was the macaroni and cheese. It's like they took yellow food coloring, and flour and a tiny bit of cheese. They overcooked the pasta and mix it all up. Running and flavor like macaroni and flour. Seriously. A few specs of cheese sprinkled in. And finally, the corn bread was burnt. Definitely will not come back.

this place was pretty good! i came here with my girls and we all loved the food. it’s hard to find mac and cheese outside of home that’s really good, this place has the only mac & cheese that i’ve liked. the yams and chicken were really good, my only complaint is the boxed mashed potatoes ???? the gravy on top of them was good though. generous portions for the price and good service.

Honestly I have no idea why this place is so famous… for a black owned restaurant, the Mac n cheese surely don’t taste like what I expect from a black owned restaurant… to each his own….
I did not like the collard greens… it tasted like bitter greens with too much pepper. I expected a pickled or slightly spicy tasting collard greens… but these were super shiny, chewy and bitter and for the price, I just wouldn’t do it again. And somebody need to be shot serving banana pudding with no bananas and instant pudding… price doesn’t match quality with this location. Overall you can disagree with me but I spent $20 and didn’t enjoy the meal, my dog didn’t even eat my scraps… that tells you something.

If you are going to be introduced to Southern Soul Food, let it be this place. Good portions for the price and lunch special. I was pleased with the selection of choices. Parking in the front and out door pick up and dining. Still gotta find my favorite dish, gonna go back!
