I walked into El Mercado as a first time customer today. The restaurant I stopped at the waitress was excellent, she was friendly and attentive. The food on the other hand was El Gallito, was less than excellent. The enchiladas were not hot and there was no cheese, I suppose that's because I ordered res? So partly my fault for not knowing this. However, the food should have been hot. The red sauce that was used...had no flavor. We also ordered menudo and that too was lacking flavor. So, I was kinda disappointed overall with this visit However, I want to go back as the atmosphere was great and I would like to try any of the other restaurants that call El Mercado home.

Cute things! I bought a pair of sandals at a shop there and I liked them but they didn't fit the way I wanted them to... I changed my mind and Decided to wait to get them so I tried to return them like 10 mins after buying them and they didn't let me... horchata was to die for!!! Good prices mostly.... its hot though so go when it's cooler. Pay with cash! Really look at all the shops before you decide to buy, a few places charge more than others...

Very safe, lots of parking attendants directing traffic, super cute Mexican products and lots of munchies to try. Went there to buy a folklorico outfit for my daughter and found everything we needed. Even found a typical top for me.

Love this place!!! Feel right at home! Vendors are friendly and if you shop around you can find very good prices. The food is great. Come with the whole family and with plenty of time. Bring the little ones so they can learn about their culture and their people. In a time of online shopping and big retailers, it is a blessing to have places like this still open. Please support your local vendors, you might pay a little more but you will contribute to extending this wonderful experience for future generations. Also, be mindful, these vendors probably were closed during covid but still had to pay for their spaces, so please don't be a lemon.

Very cute Mexican outle with plenty of places to eat, shop for kick-knacks, and other staples. Parking sucked, but oh-well.

Not as good as pre pandemic but still interesting. The third floor was closed; so no live music or restaurant food.

Food was okay, not a lot of flavor on foods we got. Plus our orders took long to receive, other tables who got there after us received their food before us and by the time we got ours it was cold. Service was slow, waitress didn't come to check on us at all, and forgot part of our order which she tried charging us for. Over priced IMO for mediocre mexican food.

Parking on the weekends is a little crazy but your trip will ne worth it if you want a little taste of Mexico. You can get esquites (corn in a cup), raspados (shaved ice), aguas frescas (natural fruit juice water), mexican food, and seafood. They also have a bakery, cold cuts and meats, desserts, plus other items you won't find anywhere else. We ate at a place called El Gallito Restaurante and the gorditas here are bomb, the guacamole is made to order, and the chips and salsa are very good. However, a very tiny shrimp and fish taco are $3.59 which is a total disappointment. You're better off eating something else. But if you want to see the live Mariachi go to the restaurant upstairs, I highly recommend it

It is a special place in the heart of East Los.
You can find from fresh tortillas, and bakery to shoes medicinal herbs. Alongside traditional Mexican food, seafood, Central American delicacies. You can also enjoy Life Mariachis. It is an incredible place.
