Everything about this meal was on point. The food was cooked perfectly, thoughtful pairings, and came out quickly. The drinks were delicious and made really well. Service was fast, friendly, and the server put up with our ridiculous questions and sense of humor. I’ll definitely go back again.

De-li-cious! Cowboy star was one of the first restaraunts I went to while visiting San Diego on a work trip, and it messed up my food experience everywhere else because the other places couldn't compare. The steak here is spectacular. We ordered 3 different cuts and all were amazing, perfectly seasoned and cooked at the exact right temperature. You wouldn't believe how many places DO NOT get the temperature right in steaks. Amazing wine / drinks selections, great decor, and the best bartenders in town. . . The guy who in charge of the grill was a master of his art ????. . . I would def recommend this place go all , date or casual eat.

Another 5 star experience at Cowboy Star! We were lucky enough to have Francisco be out waiter again, truly made the experience 110% better. Our seating was excellent and the food was phenomenal.

Had the Japanese A5 Wagyu, cooked perfectly, just melts with flavor and so tender. Baby carrots tasted good and came with a delicious sauce. But the Banana cheese cake with sliced banana crème brûlée with a side of banana hand whipped ice cream stole the show!

Great service, strong and flavorful drinks (garth the bartender is amazing). Food was pretty good, could have been better. Would have given 9/10, but not an option. Hostess was a little aloof and seemed confused. Great value for happy hour. Will be returning. We had the artichoke, the fries and the beef skewers. Also our favorite drink was the Herb'n cowboy.

An exceptional restaurant in San Diego! If you were traveling solo or even as a couple, reserve ahead and ask for seating at the chef‘s table. It is amazing to watch what happens behind the scenes at a high-quality restaurant. OK now for the food and drinks. They have an extensive list of wines and cocktails. The Mezcal old-fashioned is totally delicious. They have $140 Japanese Wagyu steak which is literally like butter. It is not for everyone because you don’t necessarily get the feeling of eating an actual steak. The chocolate bread pudding and espresso martinis on the dessert menu are to die for. And for the most important part, the staff and the service here is amazing.

Had a great experience here. I went with one other person and we ate at the bar. We ate there be a we didn’t make a reservation but I actually enjoyed it and think I’d do it again if I went back. We ordered the 35 day old Dry-Aged Rib Eye. It was my first time getting a Dry-Aged Rib Eye so I wanted to see what it was about. It was good but didn’t really notice anything that made it much better than a typical rib eye at a steak house. If I went back I’d just get the regular 14 oz rib eye for $30 cheaper. For my sides I got the macaroni and cheese (delicious), Brussels Sprouts (good), and Bone Marrow. All the sides were good but I’d probably pass on the bone Marrow next time and then good desert instead. I also ordered an old fashion and whiskey sour and both drinks were great. I wish I got the bar tender’s name who was serving us. He did a great job. Asian dude with buzzed hair working on Sunday night 1/16/22. Shout out to him.
I’d come back

6/5 service 4/5 food. We came here for a birthday; they had personalized happy birthday menus which was a nice touch. Drinks were questionable, but the food was good. Steaks were to my taste. I would recommend those who haven't been to try it out.

There was good food and disappointing dishes here. Service was good. We had an appointment at 8:30pm. Starter #1 started at 9-9:30pm. They did not take our order till 10pm, and got our first course at 10:30. Every course took forever to come and the dessert came almost at midnight.
Venison and scallops were very salty. The shallots were burned. But the pasta tasted good though. Banana pudding is good. Bread pudding is better. Soup is good.

Outstanding food and service. We went for our 10 year anniversary, and the restaurant was packed. The staff were all working so hard and kind to customers, even on a busy night.
The oysters app is yummy as well as the curry beets side dish.
It is definitely a pricey meal, over $350 for a couple, but the drinks, steaks and desserts do not disappoint.
