My husband and I went here for my birthday. It was an amazing experience. Executive chef Yohei Matsuki was very nice and knowledgeable. Food was delicious.

Words do not do justice to the experience at Sushi Ginza Onodera. The food, service and ambience were all top notch. The food was so amazing; the presentation, textures, flavors, temperatures! The wait staff were courteous and attentive. Between the chefs and the wait staff, they showed us what they're preparing or what we're eating. I also appreciated how Chef Youhei noticed my husband is left handed and put the ginger slices on the left corner of his plate.
I have been to nice places where I leave hungry, which for such prices is ridiculous. Sushi Ginza Onodera is not one of these places. I was so happily stuffed, if they gave me more, I'd gladly take it. I was pleasantly surprised with the special birthday dessert and gift bag at the end. I loved the attention to detail that this was a special occasion for us.
Tip for parking, probably better to go street parking if it's available. We went to the parking structure next to the restaurant and they said they didn't have any open self parking spaces at the time. Since we were there, we took the $15 valet parking. We came outside then noticed several open street parking options.
I also want to rave about the heated toilet seat in the bathroom. Heated! I loved my experience and would love to come back in the future when I'm in SoCal.

One of the best sushi places in west coast. Traditional edomae style technique with highest quality ingredient.

A good experience overall but not completely satisfied. I felt like there could have been a lot more nigiri pieces. I left very hungry still.
First off, there is validated parking right where EPLP sign is at. Parking will only be $5 instead of $15.
One of the servers was very helpful in repeating what every dish/piece of nigiri was.
They do charge $5 for a bottle of still water sadly. I just thought it was going to be regular tap water.

Unique omakase experience, and one that you shouldn’t miss if you’ve never tried Edomae style before. The fish are aged using a variety of Edomae techniques that transform typically tougher cuts of fish into extremely tender and flavorful sushi.
Highlights were some of the more unique sushi: baby shrimp, monkfish, and grouper. I was also very satisfied with how they transformed fish I don’t normally enjoy (e.g. albacore tuna and certain whitefish) into delicious bites.
At $400 pp ($450 with tax, tipping not accepted), I was expecting more than 20 courses. An additional 2-4 courses would have made the price point in line with other high-end omakase experiences.
Parking is available right next door in a garage ($5 with validation).

My first time at a Michelin starred restaurant. It's an delightful experience, beyond my expectations in every way.

A true and amazing omakase experience. Treated with genuine care and attention to detail the moment you walk in. Most people tend to talk about the food which was incredible but I would have to say the service was by far the most memorable. The price was a little bit up there but worth it.

This was probably one of the worst dining experiences I've had for the price we paid. Service was chaotic while we were there. Even though it was an omakase menu, there was no progression to the meal at all. What we started off with, the diners beside us ended their meal with. It just felt very awkward since it was bar seating and we could see what everyone else was being served. At one point we waited 35 minutes for our next course. The servers were confused as to which courses we already had, and which ones were still waiting on. Unacceptable for such a highly rated Japanese restaurant. After reading such great reviews, this restaurant did not live up to our expectations. And at $300 a person, I could have gotten better service at another local Japanese restaurant. The food itself was okay. Fish was fresh, but we've definitely had much better quality at this price point. Overall, very disappointed.

Well worth it!! Excellent cuisine and service. Many rare Japanese specialities. The special crab (pictured) was full of flavor. The House Sake is the best I’ve had so far and it is served in beautiful (unique for each diner) Sake glasses. A great experience. The Chefs and staff are passionate, very welcoming and treat you with true Japanese hospitality. A definite bucket-list dining experience!!
