Very tasty food consisting of fresh ingredients. Their tortillas are house-made. Their chips & salsa are delicious and very flavorful. The chicken enchiladas with the salsa verde was very nice, although I wish the portion was larger. The chicken tacos were great, as was the cheese crisp (can't recall it's actual name).
The service was great, and it was very refreshing to eat outdoors.

Food was really good. Drinks were ok but strong so that was a plus. The water did had a bit of a faucet water taste don't recommend. They give you chip tortillas and dip that were really good and fresh. The chorizo and cheese pizza was yummy specially if you add some of the salsa dip on it highly recommend. Chicken enchiladas sauce was thick but delicious. If you in town highly recommended you make sometime to stop by. Plus staff was really nice and answer all our questions.

Probably one of the best tortilla chips I've had. The cheese crisp was delightful, but our favorite part of the meal was the esquites. The service was fantastic. Looking forward to going back again

Great food and service! The grilled chicken was amazing and so is the salsa and cheese crisp. Everything that we ordered was too good. The waiter also replaced our drink for free when we didn't like it(not because it's bad, but they have some unique combination in margaritas). Would definitely return again to try every single item on the menu!

Food was bland, missing the essence of Mexican food flavors! Our expectations were high since they have a high rating. Unfortunately, this is another cash grab for a cuisine that is whitewashed for higher margins.
We couldn't finish our food even if we were starving. Almost $20 for a Mexican "pizza" is ridiculous.
Maybe, if I get buzzed of the margaritas the food would go up half a star ✨ maybe ...
Why is your "aqua fresca" served in a Tom Collins glass with a short straw?
We too saw the rats that looked like Emil from Ratatouille!

Decided on this place while looking for a Mexican restaurant around the area. I wasn't expecting the place to be 100% authentic but it was far below what I did expect.
The salsa and chips served were odd. The salsa was sweet, almost like ketchup or a pizza sauce.
I went with the enchiladas after asking the server if the sauce would be slightly spicier, which was definitely still sweetener than you expect enchilada sauce to be.
My boyfriend decided on the cheese crisp since that's what they're know for and to put it bluntly, it's a less flavorful Taco Bell Mexican pizza.
For the price they charge for the food, expectations are definitely higher. Simply put, if you enjoy dining at Uncle Julio's, you'd probably really like this place.

Salsa: The most basic but so important foundation to any Mexican style food. Most places you could argue if it were good or what nit-picky reason you have for why you like or dislike. This place 100% totally missed the flavor in their salsa, totally lacking. The heat was good for general crowd pleaser, but lacking flavor big time, almost tasted like spicy ketchup.
Drinks: we had the berry margaritas, they were totally delicious, absolutely fantastic.
Main course: Again the flavor was totally missed here. Meat was good quality, maybe slightly overcooked, but really nice meat, no flavor. I was so disappointed to be hungry, receive nice looking dish, came warm, all the stars were in line for a fantastic experience, then I take a bite.... no flavor, not a bad flavor, just totally little flavor. This could have been saved if the salsa had better flavor, but that was dull as well.
In final review: if you've not eaten at pretty much any other Mexican style restaurant, you just might enjoy this place, otherwise I would only go back to sit at the bar and drink margaritas.

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner here last night. I ordered the shrimp skewers which were absolutely fantastic, we got a grande quesadilla and we added shrimp to that and we got an enchilada style burrito. we also got a pitcher of classic margarita. The margaritas were very fresh and delicious and didn’t taste like there was anything artificial in them. Very tart & not sweet at all. The service was a little slow, definitely lacking but our server was very nice. They no longer have the live mariachi music but we still enjoyed our night very much. It was also a touch too dark in there for my taste. Other than that everything was just wonderful and we will definitely be back.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurant I have been too. Place has perfect sized menu and everything was delicious. Cocktails were good in general except the one I did not like. I asked waiter about it and he was considerate enough to replace it. You do not get this kind of service often. We were party of 9 and we all enjoyed our food. Food was on the expensive side but worth every penny. This is one of the places in Lincoln park one should visit if one is craving for Mexican food. Definitely recommended.

Great tacos and margaritas. Stopped by for one of their Taco Tuesdays and they had a special on both margaritas and taco plates (three tacos, rice, and beans). Their staff wears shirts that say they are know for their Cheese Crips - so we tried that as well. Think open-faced quesadilla with a crunch.
They’ve got lots of sidewalk patio seating and their service was nice as well! A little slow on getting food out, but it was really busy for a Tuesday night.
