Very disappointed didn't have all the items on the menu . The food didn't taste how it did when I was last there. Bbq chicken was extremely dry. The Mac and cheese sauce was just that not real Mac and cheese. They need to find the elders who was there back in 2000 when the food was really good.

Food is delicious... Sometimes the greens could be salty but they're tasty. I normally order the smothered pork chops, greens, Mac n cheese, yams, banana pudding (when they have it), sweet potato pie, fried whiting and corn bread. The portions are large and the prices are moderate.

The food is good. The portions are great! The prices are ok, not so bad and could be worse. I have to admit the food is not as good as it used to be but definitely good enough to go back a few times. Hospitality is ???? dependent on who you get. I have never had an unpleasant experience but felt the frost in the air a couple times. No different than most places. I would still recommend it. The ribs are my favorite. Fish sandwiches come close second.

Great spot for some Soul food. The serving sizes are huge. Dinner plates come with 2 sides & a main dish. They have a variety of meats to choose from, bbq chicken; jerk chicken, ribs, etc. I ordered Whiteys plate which comes with 4 pcs of fish, and 2 sides - Mac & cheese with cabbage. I also ordered yams, and black eye peas with a side of jerk chicken. Everything taste so good. The plates are filling & delicious

I’m FINISHED ordering food from this restaurant! Ordered a rib dinner, rice and peas with collard greens with a side of potato salad, and banana pudding for dessert ….Ribs were hard & cold, rice tasted old and dry!, and the greens were disgustingly BITTER…This IS NOT a Soulfood restaurant…They’ve made a mockery of Southern cooking - I realized people cook differently, but garlic in potato salad??? When I opened the container, the odor/stench of garlic was ALL I smelled- their food is disgustingly RIDICULOUS! The banana pudding was Very good, I’d purchase again, but everything else went into the garbage!

Top soul food restaurant in NY. The fried whiting is done perfectly. The food has been consistently good for years. Definitely call ahead to avoid the wait. Sometimes the line is out the door. I'll park around the corner when the Rockaway Blvd spaces are filled. Great catering options for a party.

I was really surprised to have good Soul Food in New York. I'm from the south so I was skeptical at first, but they proved me wrong. As you can see, they give BIG portions. I went into a food coma lol. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was plentiful and delicious! Mac and cheese melted in my mouth and the whitings were seasoned and fried to perfection! My rice and peas didn't rate high. They were edible but were a little undercooked - slightly hard to the bite in some parts. Could get 2 meals out of this. Picture taken after I already started eating. Purchased on eve of 03/16/2022

If you want good soul food (especially smothered foods), this is the place to go. Finally was able to drive here myself today. Food is always hot, they have a huge selection of dishes and sides to try, and the portions are amazing. Parking can be a huge hassel though and they can get crowded (this was first time I caught them empty). My picks are the chicken (fried and smothered), pot roast, fried fish, mashed potatoes, collard greens and rice or Mac n cheese.

Objectively, it was mediocre at best. From a friend's description expected to be more impressed, but it was more ordinary if anything. Traveled a distance & found my local food establishments much closer to home having better tasting food comparatively speaking, i.e. Collard greens, Mac & cheese, Whiting fish, Spare ribs, esp. the Jerk chicken (we had quite a sampling)... After leftovers will see if my initial impression changes. Perhaps they had an off night, or it was my selections--maybe it was my taste buds...so in fairness I MAY give them another chance by returning to sample other menu items before final decision. Having said that, the establishment was clean, friendly staff, organized & managed the line efficiently. Standby...
