Yikes, if this looks like a sloppy disaster well it was. My friend and i chose this place one Sunday we left feeling like we should've went somewhere else. The outside dinning structure/vestibule smelled like sewage, the server confused our order or didn't understand and brought out EXTRA food that i had to still pay for. To avoid getting nasty and already over the place we ate as much as we could and just packed up the rest. Food looks and tasted like leftovers. Dodge if you can !

Really hit the spot since we were craving Mexican cuisine. Flavors were spectacular. I wish the cod was cooked more. Sitting in outside dining was fantastic save for the occasional muffler mania passing motorist. Would go back.

cheap drinks. big plates. very solid mexican spot for LES and the price ranges are stellar as well. the salsa they use on the chips i think was the same on chile quiles and it was fire. overall it's pretty standard fare and i would def comeback for brunch. service was a bit slow at times but they're on top of their game and were quick to fix any mistake

We came in last minute and they were so welcoming and accommodated us! The drinks were great and we were recommended the chicken enchiladas and wow they were astonishing. I can’t get over how delicious they were!!! The chips and salsa were wonderful too. They have pretty flowers hanging from the ceiling and it was a very cozy and dim-lit area. We loved it here. The servers were so wonderful and helpful! I only have good things to say about this place! I will definitely be coming back (:

As you can see from all our reviews… we’ve been in a few Mexican restaurants… but absolutely nothing like La Contenta. We got there and the first impression was it size!!! Super small, we went there on a Saturday brunch but it wasn’t crowded as we were expecting. Someone greeted us and gave us a table right away. We had a torta cubana, pescado tacos, a Mexican coffee, a virgin michelada and churros (duuuhhh). I couldn’t understand how flavorful that torta was, it was amazing, all the flavors bringing childhood memories from Mexico. The fish tacos were very fresh, it didn’t have the classic fishy taste, and the batter was perfect. Churros also tasted like churros from back in Mexico city, we definitely have to go back for dinner. And here’s the thing, after aaaaaalllll of these Mexican restaurants all over NYC, I think we finally found our favorite, food, service and drinks were on point. Wishing there were more stars to give this guys.

I came here for afternoon drinks after a stroll in the LES. This location is cozy and intimate. The cocktail menu is phenomenal and really detailed. You can tell the mixologist here really makes an effort to construct delicious yet eclectic drinks. I appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of all the workers here.
We ordered the The Mayan, Pulque de Guayaba, Oaxaca express, cocktail contenta, el diablo , and el mixteco

Even tho the space is really small, it feels so cozy! We were served by Noel and he was just the best guy there. Drinks were great and food tasty. Had a great time with my friends and the music made it way better!

Went with a couple girlfriends for my birthday. Small restaurant, tasty drinks and really good food. The staff is also really nice and always had big smile on their face. The portions were small but we only got appetizers and were full (we each got a taco app and the nachos to share). I really like this place but would recommend going somewhere else if you have a big appetite

My husband and I went here for lunch on a weekday based on the other Google reviews, and the overall experience did not disappoint! The service was fantastic, and the meal was incredibly delicious. We ordered the beef and fish tacos, which also came with rice and beans. There was plenty of meat on the tacos, so we were able to mix some with the rice and beans (which was a nice treat)!
