If I could give Peter Luger Steak House more than five stars, I definitely would. Both the quality of food and standard of service is impeccable at this Michelin star rated restaurant.
We enjoyed their assorted basket of bread for starters. The caesar salad here is the best I ever had. For the main course, we had the succulent bone-in rib eye steak that was cooked to perfection accompanied with German fried potatoes. The restaurant has their own homemade steak sauce that was delicious. We capped off our meal with an incredible cheesecake that's a must for dessert.

I’ve been wanting to make a visit to this NYC steakhouse institution since I moved here and I finally got my chance. They do keep the formula simple here - no frills German ale house decor, top notch service, and a simple menu of steak for 1, 2, 3 or 4 along with a short list of traditional steakhouse appetizers and sides. And it seems to work. The place was packed on the night we visited, as I’m sure it has been for much of its 100+ year history with customers crowded in the lounge waiting to be called into the surprisingly small dining space.
All the food was wonderful. We started with two strips of bacon which were recommended as a starter by our server. You might think bacon an odd choice to start when the main is going to be a huge steak. I admit I did. But do not miss this! This is next level bacon and quite possibly the best I’ve ever eaten. For the sides we went with the creamed spinach and their special German style potatoes - both very solid. And the steak was excellent - served sliced on a super hot plate in its oil and juices that they pour over as they start you off with a couple of slices.
But was it the best steak ever? For me I don’t think it was - but lucky for me, I don’t have to travel outside NYC for it either. All in all though, it was still a great experience that I’d recommend at least once to anyone that loves a good steak.

Coming here was on my bucket list of steakhouses to visit and it did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a parking lot across the street reserved for this restaurant which was great since street parking can be tough to find in this area. The waiting area was a bit crowded but we were still able to grab a quick drink and I ordered the Luger Lager, essentially a hoppy lager that’s the closest thing they have to an IPA, and it was delicious and started off the experience on the perfect note. Our table was ready within 5-10 minutes and we were brought up to the second floor to be seated. The menu is limited and straightforward. We ordered the steak for 2 and two side orders - the creamed spinach and the German potatoes (think basically home fries) with a couple glasses of wine. Everything was delectable. The service was incredibly friendly and the waiter even offered to put the bone in a doggy bag so I could take it home to my dog for a treat. They toss some gold foil-wrapped chocolates on the table to cap off the meal.
This place is definitely pricey - total cost for 2 people including tip was $250. Important to note that they only take cash or DEBIT card (the ability to pay with debit card was a new addition and definitely easier than having to run to the ATM).
Everyone should try this iconic place in NYC out at least once in my opinion. Overall, eating here was a fun (albeit expensive) experience and I’ll definitely be coming back. Happy dining!

The iconic steakhouse in Brooklyn just across the bridge. Cash only in this classy establishment but well worth the trip to the ATM. Wow, this place is an experience. Our waiter worked there for 40+ years and did a tremendous job. I love how the food comes out steaming. They plate everything for you and tilt the plates just enough to where all the juices flow to the bottom, perfect for you to dip each bite for a little extra oomph. The bacon is a must order as far as sides go. Incredible with the steak sauce. Be careful on the bread as there’s plenty of options and they all taste amazing. Don’t want to fill up in that stuff. Some of the best steak and lamb chops I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back.

This was a true experience! We couldn’t wait to come to New York to come here and eat some steak! The food was phenomenal, from the steak to the salmon, to the lamb chops to all the sides! Everything was absolutely delicious! Make sure you get the creamy spinach as well! The service was the highlight! The staff is super attentive and makes sure your happy with everything you order. I high recommend without a doubt!

Went specifically for one thing, the lunch burger!
The rooms are filled with the thick scent of grilled steaks still simmering as they are walked through the dining rooms. The staff dressed in suits and fine serving outfits. The orders were rushed quickly to the tables, hardly an empty glass or a dirty dish on any of the tables.
The burger comes out covered in perfectly melted cheddar cheese, still dripping with juices, sitting on a full ring of raw white onion and a brioche bun. Tagged on top with a ‘medium rare’ spike.
Was the burger worth it? Yeah it was really good. I could done without so much onion (or at least grilled onions). I did not need an $8 piece of bacon, that could have been split if anything at all. Same with the fries, split them if anything. After all the bread rolls fries are really not very needed.
If you’re in the area go check this place out. You won’t regret it. You will be surprised that 2 burgers (with the fixings) and 2 beers will cost you $100. But you won’t be sorry.
Don’t forget your chocolate gold coins on the way out!!

Portions are family style and huge so I def suggest getting less than you think you need. The bread and butter were cold when brought to our table (but it’s a steak restaurant so although I was disappointed I wasn’t too put off). The steak was soft and juicy. The salmon was surprisingly delicious for a steak spot. My favorite of the night was the lamb chops. It was more flavorful than the steak in my opinion. Drinks were a little pricey but good. Also you HAVE TO TRY THE THICK CUT BACON. It’s worth every dollar we ordered it twice ????????

This place exceeded expectations. It feels like an old steakhouse, which it is, so it had a certain charm to it. Steak was delicious and perfectly cooked, a little on the rarer side of medium rare. Onion rings were incredible, fries were good, and the bacon was also awesome. This was easily the best steakhouse experience I’ve had in a LONG time. Well worth the price.

One of the best steakhouses we have ever been!!! The spinach is so creamy and the steak is fantastic! The steak is a bit crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. It is definitely to die for! You just want to eat and not stop. Highly recommend!

My family booked reservations here based on some family friend recommendations. We were staying in Time Square so it was a bit of a hike Ubering from Time Square to Brooklyn. We arrived a little early but the staff members were still able to get our table ready early for our party of 12. We hung out at the bar for 10 minutes getting drinks while they prepare our table.
We were treated with such great service. Our food and drinks came out fairly quick. I don't eat meat but everyone else did enjoy the steak. I ordered salmon and it was delicious even though I couldn't finish such a big salmon on my own. We ordered other side dishes, appetizers and desserts. Everything was served well and tasted delicious.
We certainly enjoyed our experience. The kids really loved the chocolate gold coins at the end.
