The pork is incredible, definitely worth going for that alone.
It's also clearly such an important focal point for people. The line had people. Just hanging out and chatting about. The owner is a character and will wield his machete whilst slowly enjoying a beer and the day as it goes on. Definitely would go back again.

Angel by name Angel by nature. The food was excellent but Angel is a great character. Will be visiting again when next able. The Lechon with rice and octopus salad was amazing

A great example of authentic Puerto Rican street food. If you're a germaphobe or aren't vaccinated for COVID, this place probably isn't for you, but otherwise, this is the closest you can get to the best lechon without actually flying to the island. The skin is unbelievably crunchy and the meat is tender and falls apart in the mouth. The octopus salad is also flavorful and well seasoned.
Angel is energetic and friendly as usual, and is always happy to have a chat and pose with his trademark machete.

It's a bit of a wait but it's well worth it, I felt welcomed as soon as I went in. The lechon was tender and the skin was nice and crispy, also the octopus salad was terrific ????????. I definitely will be back ????

The best Puerto Rican food in the BX. Everything he has is delish. Not one item on the menu will disappoint you.

WOW!! What an incredible spot. A must-do in New York City. La Piraña is a community institution. Just get lechón, the seafood, and rice and beans. Dump garlic sauce and hot sauce. Maybe some plantains.

This is real Puerto Rican lechon, Some of the very best I have had. Angel is a true gentleman and knows how to take care of his customers, I will definitely be returning on a regular basis ????????????????

Angel is very friendly. The pork was melt in your mouth delicious and moist! Food was flavorful. Agree with other poster that if concern for cleanliness then this probably is not the best place. The wait was about 2 hours. Cost for the Octopus and pork mix was $18. If I was nearby and the line wasn’t long - would definitely get again.
