Not the best Ethiopian food
Small portions for the price
Stir fry vegetables were salty
Doro wot- smallest chicken I have ever seen. Egg was old
Goat meat- what goat meat?? nothing but bones
Customer service -the owner (young guy) was super nice

Buna cafe is a gem! All of the workers are sweet and it isnt ever super crowded at all. The food and drinks are also great. I love supporting this business.

Just ok! there is better ethiopian food in the city. I got delivery today and added a side of gomen. The combo I got had two types of beef which were alright. Ok tenderness but the flavor was minimal. The lentils and veggies on side were all cooked well but again, not much big flavor. The injera isn’t too sour, it’s light and fluffy. The lamb dish I got to try was tough, greasy, gamey loin chops. Super overcooked, and the yellow soup it was in was sort of flavorless and thin.
Overall, fresh and light veggies but the meat dishes were plain and similarly flavored.

As thus place opened up in the heart of the pandemic we were totally unaware of it. And it is literally around the corner from us next to Greensgrow. My wife and I, both many years in the restaurant industry, have been in West Philly 20+ years but can honestly say we just had the best Ethiopian meal to date. Everything was quite obviously freshly prepared. The manager (who's name I'm embarrassed to say I have forgotten) made excellent recommendations as well as being very kowledgeable about the food. What came out was an amazing array of the most wonderfully spiced assortment. The staff was so welcoming and pleasant.. What really topped it off was getting a chance to meet and thank the chef/owner and her husband. They have certainly reset the bar for Ethiopian food to a new high. I could highlight specific dishes but to be perfectly honest, just trust the managers recommendations.

I had the lamb tibs and my dad had the bozeno shiro. Both were good it was my first time having Ethiopian food. The owner came and explained. Server was very nice and the palm breeze drinks were amazingly refreshing. Will go back!

Very disappointed. Customer service was poor- so much so I just ordered the sambusas. And just like the service, the sambusas were poor. I ended up driving to Abyssinia to order our meal. Abyssinia was solid - not great, but solid. It satisfied a craving.

Finally tried this place for takeout today. I was surprised by the interior- the restaurant was recently remodeled and it is large, beautiful, and airy inside. I got the veggie combo, and it was delicious. Everything was so fresh. The menu has lots of vegan options, so I will definitely be back to try more!
