Enjoyed lunch on the patio. Food was delicious and service was prompt. I noticed that the menu has been changed slightly since my last visit, which is wonderful. I love trying new foods. The grilled peach flat bread was perfect as an entree or sharable.

We came for HRW. Five stars for the food and service. The food was outstanding! Our server was amazing. He was very friendly and attentive.
The only downside is there is only valet parking. When I pulled up the valet attendant was no where to be seen. They also have the parking lot closed off so you have to go around the block to get to the restaurant. This is not fun as the traffic going around the block added 10 additional minutes to an already hour long commute. It was extremely frustrating having to drive by the restaurant and sit in 10 minutes of traffic just to unnecessarily drive around the block to get to the restaurant. I'm not sure if I would return based on the inconvenience of actually accessing the restaurant and the poor valet service. It's sad the valet experience ruined what could have been a 5 star experience.

This was such a great dining experience! Valet parking is complimentary, the staff was friendly and very accommodating, and the food/drinks were superb. Highly recommend this place! We had brunch here on a Sunday, right at noon. The wife had the shrimp and grits, which was pretty damn good. I had the benidict and a blackberry mojito, which I devoured! I can confidently say, we WILL be back ????

A very popular restaurant, part of the Hugo's Family of restaurants...
This was my 2nd time dining here, and I loved it as I did the 1st time.
Parking is street or valet, my suggestion is the valet, save yourself a headache and enjoy your meal. The have a ramp up for wheelchairs ♿️.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, downstairs, upstairs is bright and somewhat comfortable, indoors and outdoors dining is available.
Food and service is over the top, Excellent Meal ????.... Prepare to spend a few dollars ???? ???? ????, however, you'll walk away very happy ???? ????.

2 y/o N I were looking for some fine dining after watching Ratatouille and Backstreet Cafe brunch delivered. The live flute xylophone duo leveled the experience up! Had us feeling like we were on vacation dining in their back patio. And they were joyfully interacting with my son which warmed my ♥️
The little man got a "fruit bowl" (perfectly ripe, finely sliced, beautiful presentation) & Mac & cheese. Standards well above par compared to other children's menus. For myself I got the carbonara and it was perfection!
Highly professional staff beginning to end.
Excellent service all around
Fast delivery from the kitchen
Well balanced flavor profiles
Healthy portions
Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!
Excellent vibes
Free valet
Overall, one of the best brunch experiences I've had in Houston. It's well worth the few extra dollars per dish.
Highly recommend! I cannot WAIT to go back.

After being to a few of Hugo Ortega's restaurants I was interested in trying out Backstreet Café. I must say I was not disappointed. All the food was of great quality and the staff was attentive and helpful. It's really hard to choose a favorite dish, but If I had to I'd choose the Wood Grilled Hugo's Burger. I also think the oysters are a must, get the full order if you're in a group of 3 or more. Lastly, the desserts are completely made in house (including the ice cream). I recommend the apple crostata, if you get just one. I can't wait to go back.

Went for Easter brunch and it was great! Service was good (keeping in mind they were very busy for the holiday), food was very tasty but the order was messed up a little bit (ordered one salad but a different one delivered which is fine but sometimes attention to detail can be missed when so busy and lots going on). Menu was fixed but the options were fantastic and really so many delicious options it was hard to choose. And the cocktails and rose were flowing... so the beautiful afternoon was enjoyed on their front porch. Also to note, they are pet friendly on the front porch so if you want to take your fur baby, I advise making a reservation to make sure they have room as the garden area is not pet friendly.

We had a great meal here on Saturday night. The patio was perfect and the waitstaff so attentive but not overly so. The food and specials were excellent and the cocktails amazing. Sergio our waiter did such a good job. Can't wait to come back again and try brunch.

This was a fantastic brunch experience! A unique dining experience awaits at this Houston landmark. The various dining areas are all special regardless of which one you are seated in. We arrived with no reservations and were seated immediately in the outdoor patio area. So beautiful and tranquil. The temperature was perfect today! Our server was on point. Friendly and not over bearing. The menu is mouth watering just to read! We ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and the French Toast. Exceptional!! The presentation was beautiful and the flavors divine!!! Parking can be challenging, though plenty of easy street parking near by. Very reasonably priced for this level.

Backstreet Cafe is a Houston institution. They have valet, consistent excellent service, delicious food, amazing drinks, and the perfect atmosphere, both indoor and outdoor, for brunch. You can come here with family or friends and you will have the same welcoming experience every time. Their rep is well-deserved.
We were first seated and served two small banana nut muffins with a caramelized top. Then we were greeted warmly by Sergio and he served us promptly with water. We ordered a bottle of the very berry mimosas which came with chopped up blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries. Shortly after drinks arrived, food was served — it’s really that fast here. We ordered the French toast brioche with strawberries, roasted banana, caramel and syrup with a side of bacon. We also ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it came with an egg on top! So delicious!
This is a neighborhood favorite that never goes out of style. Fun fact — if you’re on the patio and look up you’ll see a fake owl on the roof.
